If they offer us £15m upfront with a decent sell on, I reckon we’d sell.

His value won’t plummet. If we don’t sell for 15m today we will still get that in the summer.

If he leaves before the window closes I would fully expect someone to come in, to think MR wouldn’t have been searching for someone incase it happens would be bordering on ridiculous.

I agree on your value statement. In fact if he goes onto score another 10 goals this season his value might even increase in the Summer window.

If we do sell though I'm not so keen on us rushing in to buy a replacement if MR thinks he can buy better in the Summer when options will be much wider than they are in these last days of the current transfer window.

Far too late in the window, the season is finely poised for us to still give it a good go. If you look at the clubs potentially coming down next season, it will be far more difficult to try and break into the top 6 than this, which is proving to be somewhat of an anomaly. I cannot believe it is still so open.

The fans deserve more than the club trying to make do with what we’ve got and preserve our Championship status in lower mid-table. Saying that, I don’t think that vision is in MR’s mind and would send a clear message that we have a lack of ambition, not to mention Doug’s assertion that we wouldn’t be selling anyone in January, back in November. Would surely have a detrimental impact on ST sales too.

Not sure I agree with the idea that his value will plummet in the summer. Whilst it's probably prudent to sell now, they could likely be more suitors in the summers. 1 year deal or not, if there's competition the price will stay high. The only way it doesn't is if he runs the deal down, can't see him wanting another year here.

He'd only be sold now if Robins gave it the green light, otherwise that's King breaking a statement of intent within weeks.

For Robins to give it the green light, we'd need someone in to fill the massive void he would leave. With the recruitment team barely in the door and so little time left of the window for other teams to replace their player if we nabbed them, just don't see it happening. Would hope we could add another year to his contract to keep his value up with an agreement he'll be sold if the right team/bid comes in.

Would be very disappointed- I think he would be wasted on Everton as I think they will be relegated but you can’t argue with the money 20 mill minimum for me

If the offer does come in at £18 million I think it would be far too good to turn down, would give us a real foundation for starting to build a proper championship squad. MR keeps talking about Doug coming in as giving some stability and a foundation to build, this kind of money coming in would do that. We could sign 4-5 high quality championship players and actually have a squad that can really compete at this level.

I think we all know that for the past couple of seasons we've had 5-6 players who really cut it at this level supported by loans and a number of players who aren't quite the quality we need. This kind of transfer fee could change that.

Come the summer there is a bigger market for a player like Vik, notably the newly promoted teams with their promotion windfall to spend.

I wonder what the weekly wage of Gyokores was when signed him on permanent, it wouldnt have been alot, certainly not in 10k a week department.

Id assume it was around 5k a week (dont think theres been any improvement on his original deal). If you remember he wasnt even a certain starter in our team.

Hes been practicaly underpaid for 1.5 seasons for the going rate for one of top scorers in the division. He will go on to earn at least £30k a week, with a huge signing on fee.

We have basically got 20/30 grand a week striker at a cut price playing for us.

Id be very tempted to keep him till end of season. But then its risky one injury and risk huge windfall.

Totally agree. Vik is central to the way we play and if he was to be sold now, we would not be able to secure a "like for like" replacement. This would mean a change in our tactical approach to games, which would have a negative impact as we adapt.
It's worth waiting until the summer [having made it clear to Vik if a PL club came in for him, we would sell].
As most people have identified, we will be undergoing significant turn over of players this summer, so Vik going would give MR additional funds to remodel the team.

He's going to get a big move at some point that's for sure.
Not sure he'd accept personal terms at Everton and risk being back in the Championship next season.
Its not just we don't want to sell, I don't think he'd want to go there

So at least 20%

Easily treble his wages, and go to a massive club?

why do some fans delude themselves into thinking he wouldn’t agree terms? He’s most likely have promotion bonus and goal bonus written in should they go down.

go down -bang in 20 goals go back up…

I'm sure footballers seeing an Everton youth product having his car surrounded for being in the relegation zone are dying to want to play for the first Everton team relegated in generations.

It’s never bothered players before, if you back yourself which Gyokeres will - he’ll have ideas that he can crack it and pull them out the shit.

everton are a massive club. Dyche will keep them up. It’s either that or piss around with us for 10k a week.

You really think with Vik gone and no replacement in we wouldn’t suffer terribly. I would be sure that we would struggle to avoid relegation in that scenario.

We've got enough poor teams to play, though. If Huddersfield can have a past-it Jordan Rhodes up front for them on his own, we can cope if we can keep Godden and Waler fit.

Not really. They're bottom three and will stay there, with us being 12 points ahead there's no chance of us being overtaken by them, and if anything we'll increase the distance from them, even without Gyokeres.

He’s our only real slight hope of scraping the play-offs.

Our squad is more competitive with McNally in and Fadz due back so why not be ambitious?

If we give Vik a raise of whatever we were paying Waghorn then that’ll be good business.

Its a toxic club right now. He'll have better options now or in the summer its not in the dream move category.

What if the money from Vik was used help fund a Mike Ashley buy out of the Arena?

CCFC would finally have the ground.

I’m sure if Godden was to stay fit we could scrape through to end of season before rebuilding.

Agree Everton are a massive club but just don't see the magic turnaround under Dyche - he built a Burnley team in his image yet his record there since the beginning of 2021 was:

Played 53
Won 10
Drew 17
Lost 26
PPG 0.89

As for Everton, they've been close to relegation for the last couple of years, it is not a blip. He's joining in the last knockings of the transfer window so has got to work with what he's got.

Premier League side Everton are set to make a ‘formal bid’ for Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres ahead of the transfer deadline, according to reports.

The Sweden international has been in brilliant form for the Sky Blues over the last couple of seasons after joining permanently from Brighton for a reported fee of just over £1m.

Gyokeres has contributed 29 goals and nine assists in the Championship for Coventry in 73 appearances in the last two seasons.

And that form has seen admiring glances from a number of clubs at a higher level but Coventry’s resolve could now be tested with a proper bid.

When asked if the Coventry hierarchy have moved to assure him that Gyokeres won’t be sold in January, Sky Blues boss Mark Robins replied earlier this month: “I don’t need any reassurance.”

On whether there were any bids for Gyokeres or other players, Robins added: “No. And we haven’t had bids for anyone. And they’re not welcome. And there won’t be anyone (of note) leaving this January.”

But now Football Insider claim that Everton ‘are in talks to sign’ over a deal to sign Gyokeres ‘ahead of the transfer cut-off’ as they look to make ‘two attacking signings in the final days of the window’.

Everton now have some money to spend after selling Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United in a deal worth £45m and the report claims ‘around half of that cash will be ploughed straight into signing reinforcements’.

The report adds:

‘Everton believe around £15m could be enough to prise Gyokeres from Coventry and they are in discussions over the fee with the Championship side, with a formal bid lined up.
‘The relegation-threatened Premier League club are now working round-the-clock to bring in two forwards capable of slotting straight into the team.

£15m to £18m might have been his price at the start of the window but the price to a desperate Everton at the end of the window HAS to be £20m. Sellers market and I do not believe his value will be less than £15m in the summer.
