Hopefully he will put out a team close to Saturday, if it's boggy up there it might suit the Vincenti game but any team with half a brain would clock onto it.

Still, 1-0 us with a scrappy game and a sending off.

time to smash slade for getting us relegated. i doubt they will be better than mowbrays blackburn but stranger things have happened.

o brien
grimmer
macdonald
hyam
stokes
doyle
kelly
jones
vicente
mcnulty
beavon

keep same team that won 3 nil for now. introduce ducken as a sub 2nd half

ill take a draw as it is away and will probably be an ugly game . 1-1

All the players to play in wellies rendering Doyle useless without studs to maim people with, resulting in him just barking orders at people and being substituted for a Jack Russell at half time. Slade to slip over in the wet after 7 minutes and then be splashing about on his back, legs and arms flailing like an upside down beetle, unable to right himself for the rest of the game.

City to win 3-0 again and post match interviews to be delayed by 2 hours because Robins will insist everyone is scrubbed up so well it'll look like they're attending a wedding instead of an interview on an iphone with Clive Eakin.

One change from Notts County, hopefully Willis is fit.

O'Brien
Grimmer
Willis
McDonald
Stokes
Kelly
Doyle
Jones
McNulty
Vincenti
Beavon

Subs:
RCC, Pearson, Hyam, Stevenson, DeKE, Navon, Biamou

I fancy us for a 2-0 win, McNulty and Jones for the goalscorers.

Why change a winning team? Hyam doesn't deserved to be dropped just because Willis is fit again.

You should always pick the best team you have available.

Same team as Saturday. if the pitch is boggy it's going to suit Slade's medieval style so I expect a tight game.

0-1 to us although I'd take a draw.

---------------O'Brien----------------
Grimmer--Hyam---McDonald----Stokes
----------Doyle(c)----Kelly-----------
--Vincenti-----McNulty------JJ------
---------------Beavon----------------

Same as Saturday, I'd keep Hyam in if Willis is fit. Lads done well so don't warrant dropping because Willis big toe might be better.

Last night showed how much Vincenti is a outlet for us and is a unsung hero for me and he was the fall guy shifted out of position for JJ to benefit.

Won't be a easy game, and Grimsby have goals in them with a inevitable direct approach.
They've a quick tricky winger in Dembele, the experienced Scott Vernon and just signed JJ Hopper who is a good addition for L2.

I think that Saturdays team is now our best team. Willis is average and certainly doesn't deserve to come straight back into the team. He hasn't earned it and shouldn't come back in just because of his name.

Fair enough, pretty hasty decision given we're two games into a 50+ game season without seeing Willis play a single L2 game. I'm under the impression that Hyam was originally brought in as a squad player we'd develop, so I'd be surprised if Robins considered him a starter right now.

Yes but if the time comes that Hyam looks out of his depth, then Willis can come in. At the moment Hyam looks like he could form a good partnership with McDonald at the back.

Am I not allowed to share my opinion? If Willis is drafted in Saturday then I will be fully behind him. The same as I would be with Hyam if he is playing.

Same team as saturday, i fancy 1-2 but scrappy affair.
Defence will be given a good workout and at least the midfield should cope.

2-0

McNulty to get his first goal for the club and the Duck to continue his positive start.

Two things should happen for starters following lat night's game.

1. O'Brien should be behind the sticks, even if Burge is fit. He has surely earned the right to be number one right now.

2. Biamou needs dropping to the bench. Either Nazon and Beavon, or Beavon and McNulty, or McNulty and Nazon up top.

I know the Wolves lad is raw, but I think he can do a lot of damage at this level.

It obviously goes without saying that Kelly and Doyle will be back in the middle of the park and Vincenti almost certainly back in on the flank.

O'Brien

Grimmer
Hyam
McDonald
Stokes (Camwell if Stokes isn't fit. He has a hamstring problem at the mo)

Vincenti
Doyle
Kelly

Nazon/Beavon or Nazon/McNulty or McNulty/Nazon

In true Otis fashion, if he is behind the sticks he won't do very well.

Indeed.

Maybe we should try him inbetween them then instead. Might save a few more that way.

Let Beavon work the defenders to a standstill then bring on the Duck start to turn there defenders with a
through ball or over the Top the Fuzzy Duck will thrive

Nazon is a impact sub at the minute for me.

Maybe, but Beavon hasn't started the campaign well yet, though it is only 2 games in. I don't think Biamou deserves to keep his place, so really it is only out of McNulty, Beavon and Nazon for starting places.

I thought Beavon did well Saturday, tho as a striker we want goals he did some of the ugly aspects of the game that McNulty gained the advantage of.
Last night was not one too gauge him as the game was done and won, Blackburn used there experience and used the big pitch to spray the ball about using the width as inevitably he was introduced to press and hustle them with Ponticelli, something we'd not done all night.

I know your a Beavon fan and not knocking him but I feel he's the only one to lead the line in the ranks so far, unless we play McNulty as the 9 and Vincenti as the 10 as a figure to hit so McNulty can feed off him.

I can see this being used sometimes in games we require pace with nazon and JJ either side.

Vincenti has to play for me, unsung hero on Saturday. A vital outlet and won his share of 50/50 tackles in vital areas, despite a wayward pass or two.

I'd go with the same side at Grimsby.

Depends what we define Beavon's role to be. I thought he played well v Notts County, the biggest difference between last night and Saturday was how we pressed. Biamou didn't press from the front and Shipley-Stevenson weren't as aggressive in the tackle or press as Kelly and Doyle. For the time being, even if Beavon isn't scoring, he remains important to the game plan. On top of this, he is a handy little target man and he did link up with McNulty well and scored headers in preseason, so I think he's our #1 choice for the striker role. For now, I'd keep Duckens Nazon as a devastating impact sub.

Their game last night was abandoned so is there any realistic possibility that the game might not go ahead on Sat?

Anyway it's only an hour's drive for me so will turn up whatever happens - there are 20 or so lads up from London / south east and their various associates who'll be pre-matching in a pub on Cleethrorpes seafront - there are a couple coming up from Brighton and Tunbridge Wells which'll mean an early start!

Anyway my XI would be
O'Brien

Dion KE
Willis if fit, Hyam if not
McDonald
Stokes

Jones
Doyle
Kelly
Vincenti

Nazon
McNulty

Still 600 tickets left apparently, pretty poor turnout if it doesn't go much higher than that.

To be fair it's not exactly up the road. I expect a few people are holding off to see if we are actually the real deal.

Funny how we view games differently, on Saturday I thought Beavon was busier than McNulty and how can you drop anyone after last week...same team for me

Cant see how you can change the team from Saturday, by all accounts no one was poor then and no one was amazing last night.

As you were for me.
