Morning Boys & Girls,

Brizzle City fan just popping by to say how impressed I and many fellow fans were with the Sky Blues performance on and off the pitch on Saturday.

You , as much as any set of fans have had it more than rough for a few years now and I admire how you have kept behind your club and got the club back to the Ricoh , so always keep half an eye on you.

i thought the side were really well organised and played to a well prepared game plan, Johnson was awesome, and your lads looked sharper than some of our lads who are looking a little weary.

You thoroughly deserved your point , possibly more and if you can keep TM and / or continue performing like that I can see a decent successful season for you next season (hope so) - one of the better away performances at Ashton Gate this season

your fans were great in their support making constant noise and we also appreciated their applause in recognition of our lads achievements this season

had to pop by and say well done - As a Bristol City Fan of 40 odd years I know how depressing it can become at times (saw our lot lose 7-1 at Northampton in the 80s to go bottom of Div 4 !!)

keep the faith - a fine club with a great set of supporters in its spine

Was at that game in 77 as a lad - wonderful night !

thanks for the good wishes - our turnaround in 16 months has been quite bizarre as it is remarkable - makes all of us football fans keep the faith that there will be good times ahead - this was our first 'title' for 60years hence the excitement !

You will be back - and would love to welcome you to the (by then) revamped Ashton Gate season after next (In the Championship I prey - if we don't fall down again !!!)

Me too, RR. First game I really remember. What I remember most was that fans were mixed up that night, both sets of supporters in together. Not sure if that was the case or I'm just remembering it that way. I was only 11.

No your memory is right - Somehow me and my Dad ended up behind the goal where all the goals went in which was ? Cov end ? - had no hassle tho and all the supporters celebrated together :d

It makes a nice pleasant change instead of hatred and the likes to receive a message from another clubs fan meaning well for a change, this is how football SHOULD be supported.. good luck for you and your team next season

I bet you were standing next to me in the West End when we all ended up together and sent Sunderland down ? I was having a drink before a game against your team a few seasons back and got chatting to a couple of Bristol fans,and they were looking forward to seeing the Ricoh and they both said how much they liked Coventry as a club and a city,and they weren't pissed ! Fair play to your club though in going up again and let's hope we meet again very soon but not in League One.

That night in 1977 me and a load of mates were standing right next to a similar gang of Bristol just outside the West End was edgy at first with a few old bill trying to make things worse, we were 2 up and cruising and at half time we palled up with Bristol lads talking as you do, then in a flash it was 2-2 but no hostileries. We all know what happened then, but one thing I recall is a young Bristol player I think came on near the end and promptly smashed a blistering pile driver against the bar and one of the Bristol players had a word in his ear I don't think even the Bristol lads would have cheered had it gone in, the night was special. Since then for some strange reason I have always looked for the Bristol City result.
One thing I will ask though should you play Sunderland next season make sure you stuff the bastards !!

Well done to all who support Britol City.
as an oldie I remember 1977 like it was yesterday and the atmosphere was fantastic I remember most the roar when the Sunderland result flashed up on the scoreboard, bloody brilliant.

i am positive that if we keep Mowbray we will be playing you in the Championship in season 2016/17.
i have never felt this confident of us having a promotion/successful season in decades.

if we don't keep Mowbray we won't play you for the foreseeable future and the only time we will go to Bristol for football will be to play against Rovers.

Thanks for the encouragement and congratulations on your promotion. Well deserved! What are your opinions on Steve Cotterill? He was linked to Cov at one point and I thought he was a dreadful manager so he's surprised me as i didn't think he had it in him!

As i live in Weston,I got the train with my Bristol City mates to Parson St on Saturday and witnessed the flag day at the Three lions in Bemmy before going down to watch the game.
A few celebratory drinks with them before and after we're in order and i even joked it will be a draw like 77.
They were all predicting 4-5 nil.

You can tell your Dad he's wrong. Cotterill said he was offered the job after Coleman was sacked, but we went for Boothroyd in the end.

Ha ha - remember the shot from our sub - can't think who it was but sure it was Norman. Hunter that nearly chinned him !! Wonderful football in 70s ,,

Steve Cotterrill is very 'intense'- We all love him as you can imagine but I'm not sure he's 'likeable' if you know what I mean and I can understand how he can antagonise opposition supporters

Hes done a amazing job to be fair to him and has got a+ for his main task - winning football matches, with great style to be fair and That's what matters really

Hope you can keep hold of Tony Mowbray as he is one of the best outside the prem for my money

My main memory from that night is that I was on the Spion Kop surrounded by Bristol fans and the 2 behind me were in Gorilla costumes. Strange what sticks in your mind as I cant remember any of the goals.

I know what I was gonna mention - one of our fans who ran on the pitch spilled his car keys , and carried on running unaware

one of your players who he says was a sub but can't say which one, saw him drop them , picked the keys up and ran after the fan to return the keys to him !!!!

in the middle of a (albeit friendly) pitch invasion !!'

Despite my age couldn't resist getting on and bumped straight into, almost literally - of all people Big Oggy !!!

managed to put the brakes on ! And glad I did, blimey he's a big lad when you're up close !!!

Just to clear that up, Bristol's sub that night was Cormack. City didn't use theirs. You could only name one substitute in those days.

Been enjoying this thread from afar. I was working on nightshift at Rootes/Chrysler, Humber Rd at the time of "that" game. Went with a couple of workmates and walked into work after pretty chuffed!

I remember that when Bristol equalised our lot went to pieces and couldn`t string two passes together. I reckon that without the delayed kick off Bristol might well have gone on to win and we would have been down, as they had the momentum.

By the way Rockrobin, I`m old enough to remember seeing one of your all time greats, John Atyeo, a couple of times at Highfield Rd. I think he was one of those players you rarely if ever see these days who only played for the one club.

I'm very envious as I missed seeing the great man play by a handful of years.

accepted as the greatest player to play for our club, one of our few Internationals and as you say a one club man who turned down offers from then big clubs to continue playing for his club.

Had the pleasure of meeting the great man on several occasions , a lovely humble man

thanks for the clarification of our sub that night (think Micky ? Came up with it)

Peter Cormack makes sense - one of the classiest players I've seen in a City shirt - him and Bite yer legs Norman kept us in the promised land for a few years.

Anyway fellas - you realise that Coventry City played a much more pivotal role in our history ;

when , during our brief visit to Div 1 you prised away our best young player Gary Coliier , our the manager Alan Dicks (ex Cov) panicked and awarded players up to 10 year contracts if you remember, slippery slope, three consecutive relegations and the Ashton Gate 8 followed (and we've never got back there !)

But it's ok - we don't blame you
