2.0 is (almost certainly) a Premier League team. What is 2.0? You’re overthinking things. We should attract the best players we can.
2.0 is (almost certainly) a Premier League team.
History shows that promoted teams who stack their squad with top Championship players rather than genuine PL-calibre talent don’t fare well, hence why talk of Dan Neil etc gives me pause
I agree with you - I just think it’s pretty clear that the Dan Neils of this world don’t fit either of those categories. One player is “stack[ing]” now?
Id hope we’ve got a player we could attract who has a chance of making the step up in our sights or is once again question what Austin does with his days.
We could do a Le Fee type deal, or find a younger player from abroad. I doubt every player we sign in the summer will be a £20m+ player
Taking a £5 million hit for the sake of <20 Championship games seems like dodgy business to me. Is our midfield THAT bad? Also we can just sell/loan out players. Even if we lose say £5m on the fee it’s probably worth it and that’s quite unlikely.

We have already taken a hit by selling Sheaf for £6.5m and not replacing him. We are running on empty whenever we have an injuryTaking a £5 million hit for the sake of <20 Championship games seems like dodgy business to me. Is our midfield THAT bad?
Well that’s what you’re suggesting! Is our scouting that bad that anyone we sign would be a write off?
Well that’s what you’re suggesting!
I think Austin has earned our trust but it’s far from impossible - how much are we about to write off on Bassette?

Who was that?Bournemouth paid a loan player who hardly even played £35 grand a week and bonuses if promoted. It all pays for itself in the end
Who was that?
Yes I dont get the "save money for the Prem" notion. The Jones deal also included bonuses to the player and club. They signed him as a reserve striker was injured I think. The whole deal cost around £1.5 million for 6 weeks
You think we will almost certainly be promoted without spending the £5 mill so it's bad business to you.I agree with you - I just think it’s pretty clear that the Dan Neils of this world don’t fit either of those categories.

He has potential but miles off for a year or two.I honestly think Andrews has a part to play this season, he’s looked very assured when he’s come on and reminds me a bit of Jude Bellingham in the way he plays
I think he’ll be a cracking talent with the right management
Sounds to me like there’s a good case to be made that it was an unnecessary signing then?Kemwyne Jones. He played 41 minutes in total
It was the club who gave him that contact , look at some the players at Manure in the past like Phil Jones and others who were given long contacts and then after a while hardly ever played.Winston Bogarde at Chelsea . There 4 years and played 9 times. Now there's a guy who knew how to steal a living
The prize for promotion is £200m it’s saving pennies on the pound by not ‘going for it’ this window.Yes I dont get the "save money for the Prem" notion.
You do what you need at this point to get us over the line.
I personally feel like the midfield has been consistently very good (if not great) all season, even with key injuries throughout the year. We’ve had three rough games no doubt - I’m not sure that means we’re “running on empty” to the extent that we need to break up the midfield that’s currently top of the league. We have already taken a hit by selling Sheaf for £6.5m and not replacing him. Because of those 41 minutes? They got promoted
Rudi is off form, Torp has been injured or sick a fair bit, Grimes despite the man of steel meme could clearly do with a break from time to time. Selling Sheaf clearly wasn't part of the plan and more of a "Wrexham have bid how much?!"I personally feel like the midfield has been consistently very good (if not great) all season, even with key injuries throughout the year. Well he got an equaliser in a 1-1 draw. SO earnt them a pointBecause of those 41 minutes?
Like Paterson’s goal v Pompey. Overall, hit was a pointless signing that offered little, but that goal secured 3 points that arguably is the difference between finishing in the Top 6 and not.Well he got an equaliser in a 1-1 draw. SO earnt them a point
It wouldnt be breaking it up. It would be adding to it. If Rudoni or Torp gets injured, then we struggle. Our best formation has Torp and probably and a in form Rudoni definitely included but we cant use both for 90 minutes every match. Same for Grimes to a certain extent. He seems ultra reliable but that must be waining a bit and he needs some relief at times if we had a suitable ready made replacement to bring on, but as we dont, he has to soldier onI personally feel like the midfield has been consistently very good (if not great) all season, even with key injuries throughout the year. I agree on Austin which is why I don't understand where you are coming from. Are you saying don't spend just incase you get it wrong and it doesn't work out? That's just football.Well that’s what you’re suggesting!
I think Austin has earned our trust but it’s far from impossible - how much are we about to write off on Bassette?
So no then?Well he got an equaliser in a 1-1 draw. SO earnt them a point
If you said to me you can have a loan signing that will secure you a point before the end of the season for £1m I'd probably take it right now yes.So no then?
Tbf to Phil Jones he played 169 times for the club but as you say, they gave him a massive contract and he became unsellable. It was the club who gave him that contact , look at some the players at Manure in the past like Phil Jones and others who were given long contacts and then after a while hardly ever played.
Even if Doug went crazy this month he’s only spending £10-15m max (all in cost of transfer fees + wages). That would barely impact our ability to spend in the PL.Yes I dont get the "save money for the Prem" notion.
