A friend of mine found himself having a drink with the ex spouse of one of the directors of the club and he did a bit of digging for me...apparently this person claimed...

- 'ccfc are fucked'
- 'butts was their only viable option for a new stadium'
- 'we're looking at a ground share with Milton Keynes'

Make of it what you will

Other than the ground share with MK Don's what's been revealed is hardly ground breaking news. The Butts, has clearly been scuppered due to the relationship between the lease holder based in New York and the Council. It's worth noting that the Millerchip family fund have contributed heavily to the "engage" project which is part of the whole "City of Rugby" thing.

There will be no ground share with anyone, sisu are buggered that way, their only option is the Ricoh so they have to comply with the drop litigation demands, balls in their court, they should be comfortable with that, they like court.

I didn't say it was ground breaking news!

Although I did think it was interesting to hear them admit they're fucked as it goes against their rhetoric...

(Although thinking about that as I write, there doesn't actually appear to be much rhetoric anymore)

On the bright side, we usually get a good crowd in 'Milton Keynes".

No, but it seems to be a viable home for franchise football

Let's break this down a bit

Fucked and the Butts been the last option in and around Coventry?

Very possible, if you believe we do not have the means to build a new stadium and are only bluffing about that.
The only other thing I could think is that they do what they wanted to do at the Butts at a local non league club with a similar stadium to the Butts.

Moving to the MK Dons

We saw from Northampton despite some fantastic football been played Coventry Fans are not prepared to accept that happening. Second time round I predict would lead to even smaller crowds.

SISU want to run a model where the club pays for itself. So the budget would be a non league budget in these circumstances.
2 seasons there would probably lead to two relegations.
Why would SISU want to own a team in non league football?

The previous move to Northampton left the Ricoh empty so their was a purpose behind the move.
If it happens this time nothing changes with the Ricoh Wasps just carry on and get stronger potentially picking up a disgruntled Coventry fan base bit by bit with no competition.

The football league will want to see concrete proof that we can return to Coventry.
When Brighton were not able to do that the football league told Brighton they could not move. They ended up paying a rent of £480k a year when they wanted to pay £220k to rent the stadium. Until they were allowed to move.
Would we be prepared to put down a one million pound bond again saying we will move back to Coventry ASAP?
Why would SISU in those circumstances want to stay as owners of the club
I just can't see it

I'm surprised the posters who like to applaud the business sense of the franchise aren't praising ccfc for having the vision to move?

They probably dont, but equally who would want to buy the club when a franchise rugby club and the council are doing all they can to put it out out business?

The way I see it...get as many mates to come put up with the boredom(some may like it) of home games to get big big crowds...SISU will love it hopefully cash in and fuck off for good...maybe we then will have 'our' football club back once again
