THE CHASE FANS FURIOUS WITH ‘SCUMBAG BEHAVIOUR’ OF PLAYER
ITV The Chase viewers were furious tonight after a player took the minus offer - and made it back to the team.
Retired chemical checker David went up against Paul “the Sinnerman” Sinha on tonight’s episode and managed to get £5,000 in his cash builder round.
The Chaser offered him a high offer of £62,000 and a low offer of minus £4,000 which David took - much to the dismay of his team and viewers at home.
David made it to the final round and reduced the cash from £18,000 to £14,000.
Viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
Doug said: “Taking a negative amount on The Chase is 100% scumbag behaviour.
“If I was on a team with such a person, I'd throw the game to prevent them getting any money.”
Chloe said: “Ah I liked him until he took the minus! T****r."
Kal said: “What's stressing me out more than the #coronavirus is the guy who just took a minus offer on The Chase”
Another viewer commented: “When you put 9 grand into the pot and this w****r takes 4 out of it!”
After David’s success, the Chaser spoke about the “rules” around taking the low offer as it often causes controversy.
Paul said there was no “golden rule” and explained it was all dependent on the circumstances of each particular game.
He said: “David’s a good player, he knows he’s a good player because he’s happy to smugly recite the chemical name of sugar.”
But then he added: “I don’t think there was any need to take the low offer.”
In the final chase, the team of four got 15 correct answers.
Speaking of David again on Twitter, viewer Kayleigh said: “Took the minus offer and didn’t even bother to answer anything in the final chase.”
Carl said: “Hahahahaha and he had the cheek to just stand there looking half-dead. Pressed once and got it wrong.... MATEEEEEE HAHAHAHAHA”
