Good day today, spent most of the day outside the SKA tent skanking away. We watched the darkness which was quite funny, he has a voice that only dogs can pick up but they pulled in a massive crowd. The Bar situation was atrocious again, felt sorry for the servers but even they didn't know who they were serving at times. Too many parts in the serving process where they didn't need to be. Put two smaller bars near the entrances and that problem will be eased. They just didn't have the staff to cope but I suppose you cannot staff up if you don't know the volumes of people coming through the doors. Overall another great weekend, well done to all who organised

So, who would you like to see next year up there. Shame it always has to be bands or artists on the wane, but of course that is all we are going to be able to afford to get.

Before coming up with suggestions I always have to do some research and see who is still going and who has reformed.

Have to say although they were good, they were even better at the club gig I went to a couple of years back... so definitely tickets for any tour are in order.

Do you think we should continue to steer clear of tribute bands? Just thinking someone like the Bootleg Beatles or such like would go down a storm.

And as for the Darkness, wouldn't they have been better on Friday night? Would have thought on family day (Sunday) it should be a bit more poppie perhaps. Something a bit more universal.

I thought Badfinger were pretty good today to be honest and was thinking that sort of thing, though they are far too ancient for many to even know who they are.

Rock bands and indie headliners should be for Friday and Saturday nights. Keep Sunday just a tad lighter. The ska thing was perfect I would say and someone like Tilbrook and Difford, that sort of thing.

I was thinking earlier that Difford and Tilbrook would be great for the Sunday,
although I like the Friday night vibe as it is with a more retro feel.
It's a big ask keeping everybody happy with only one stage, and I'm beginning to wonder if the festival is outgrowing the site or maybe the layout of the site.
There could perhaps be a second stage where some of the parking is and put a greater emphasis on public transport/park and ride.
The next couple of years are going to be interesting to see how things develop.

Surprised to see some of the acts they've had over the years.

Could maybe do away with the funfair too and just have the smaller kids one like this year in the family field.

The funfair seems to attract some quite unsavoury types.

Have to say, I saw zero trouble today.

Maybe I'm just blind... or maybe The Darkness are family friendly after all

Well there's no Glasto next year so lets shoot for the stars, Radiohead

Seriously someone like OMD or Gary Numan who are still touring.

Funnily enough I was thinking of OMD too.

Would like to see Depeche Mode myself, but maybe they are still too big perhaps.

Gary Numan would have a lot of pull.

No, no chance on Depeche Mode. Just checked and they are still too big. Still playing the likes of the Hollywood Bowl and the O2.

What about Ian Hunter? He could be a great call, especially for the Sunday slot. 9 top 40 hits with Mott the Hoople, 3 in the top 10 and so many of them big sing-a-long anthems.

Would love to see him headline.

Some great songs. All the Young Dudes, the Golden Age of Rock and Roll, All the Way from Memphis, Saturday Gigs.

If we want to go a bit futher back, what about Procol Harum. Still going and had 1 number 1, 2 top 10's and 5 top 40's.

Would love to see them too and for me Salty Dog is one of the best songs ever written.

Went yesterday only there for a few hours as only went to see the Darkness. Thought they were good but not on long enough. Saw a bit of Kate Nash but thought she was very average but the crowd seemed to enjoy it.
But what surprised me was when going in I never got searched,in fact a load of us just walked in and none of the security bothered. Other than that not bad !

I didn't manage to get over, but I really like the Darkness. Is there anywhere I can see a recording of it?

Best bet is YouTube I would have thought. Someone is bound sure to have filmed it on their phone.

I went to see their tour in mid 2000's at the NEC and they were just amazing. I still follow them now online and see they're still off all over the world.

Was expecting a big delay getting in with the mandatory search, but the Coat of Arms Bridge Rd entrance was practically empty at 2pm. Was it slow getting in the other ways?

Didn't see any trouble apart from a number of police heading towards one of the tents at one point, and then an argument between a man and woman about a kid on the way out that was straight out of Jeremy Kyle. No bother getting served quickly at the stage bar, although didn't use it after maybe 7pm so it probably started getting rammed then.

Too many people watching live music through their camera phones these days - why bother going ? - enjoy it while you are there , gets in my way when i am watching - buy the disc if you want to hear it again - saw Fish and he said turn all your phones off you fuckers - really liked that - rant over

My shout would be local band Ocean Colour scene

Barry Gib and his ridiculously white denchers would be laugh.

The amazons on Saturday and the Darkness yesterday were the highlights on my weekend

I quite like some Bee Gees songs, but started to watch Barry Gibbs set at Glastonbury and the first note he hit I had to turn the tv off. I find his falsetto vocals embarrassingly ridiculous and found it hard to not burst out laughing.

I thought she was ok too. Not sure if a lot of people knew what to expect with her but I knew what she'd be like and I thought she was good.

I was driving to get in yesterday afternoon and two young kids ran like the wind over the access road in the park. They were getting chased by a gang of 8 black lads. a pedestrian came running over and got the two kids into a car out of the way and basically threatened the gang who sloped off. he then walked the two lads out of the park.
My point is that there were loads of gangs of youths hanging around looking menacingly at people. It wasn't nice and hearing that a 15 year old has been arrested for murder in Brum overnight makes me feel a bit uneasier about the whole thing now.

Even worse when they will be using weapons and have no issues with stamping on heads outnumbering the others etc rather than a 1v1.

Scary really, can't remember any of that from when I was that age.

I'll never forget going to the fair at AT7 about ten years ago. There was a bit of a scuffle in the direction we were walking and a lad broke out of it and ran towards us (i.e. toward the exit). He bumped into my Mrs and said sorry love, ever so polite. Turns out he'd literally just stabbed a lad and was running away from the scene.

Yesterday? We didn't see any groups of lads at all yesterday. Not anywhere. The fair was clear of them too. Could it have been a revenge thing for Saturday evening perhaps?

The Darkness hail from the town in which I live, Justin Hawkins was a handy darts player
Who I played many times before they were famous, god awful band though.

Shouts for next year;
Fun Loving Criminals.
Primal Scream.
Portishead.
Fergal Sharkey.
Cap Sensible.
Faithless.

Obviously no idea of their availability though :emoji_relaxed:
