I dont think it matters anymore. Not like it used to. You rarely get a captain nowadays that leads. Not like Doyle would have. A proper captain. Terry and Gerrard were probably the last of a generation. Now the armband is more of a formality and usually given to the most experienced player rather than the natural leader/General on the pitch!

There weren’t many other options in the team. He’s a senior squad member and the rest are pretty inexperienced. I think Hyam is future captain material though.

A Captain needs to be exactly that - not good being Captain and Goalie - that’s an own goal

Not a fan of keepers being captains, difficult to get a clear view on everything happening because of perspective.
