I think most of us agree that Allsop is not up to standard and we haven't seen enough of Burge to make an accurate assessment.

My question is though, is Oggy having much input here? Can we assume that he is working with both in training and advises SP as to who is the better option ? Also, has Oggy got enough clout to suggest to SP that neither is of the required standard?

Over the last few years oggy hasn't really had any pressure in the goalkeeping position as we've been lucky with Westwood and Murphy. This is a big test for his coaching skills and hopefully he can tell Pressley he needs to man up and tell sisu/waggot/Fisher that money needs to be spent on the team otherwise we're down. After all oggy can call this his club as much as ours

Don't rate Allsop at all. What I have seen of him, he has not been great, far below the standard of Westwood, Murphy. The one time I did see Burge play this season, he played very well and seemed competent enough between the posts.

We're just leaking goals for fun currently. I know it's not all Allsop's fault but he just isn't at the required standard as a goalkeeper (off the ball, commanding as well as shot stopping).

I say give Burge a proper run out in the first team. Bournemouth's rejects aren't doing diddly squat for us currently.

I do think Bournemouth are quietly laughing up their sleeves, having palmed off Allsop, Coulibaly and McQuoid on us.

McQuoid has done the best of the 3, but hasn't be that greta shakes and Coulibaly seems a bit of a luxury players who will only be any good in fits and starts (maybe starting from the bench perhaps) and Allsop seems well short of what is required to be a decent keeper in this division.

A Bournemouth fan I know seems surprised that Allsop is getting quite such a hard time...

There may well be a good keeper in there somewhere, NW, but he has looked edgy, indecisive and nervous for us so far and that really will put the back four on edge too.

Absolutely. Our defensive players look completely lost without Reda at the back. The goalkeeper should be taking on some kind of responsibility at the back in commanding his area. We're just a complete shambles at the back.

The back line must be putting him on edge.

All that is now needed is a high ball over the back and the defence is beaten by an on running forward. That isn't on edge it is just poor defending.

The keeper isn't great. But he's not the reason we're so poor. All this focussing on Allsop, is just deflecting criticism that the squad and midfield is a poor one.

No, true. He is just a small part of the reason. He's not good at claiming crosses or being commanding, but problems elsewhere on the pitch are much more pressing.

Could be the other way round. The number of one on ones with that defence is incredibly.

In my own personal opinion (and I know not everyone will agree) the Goalkeeper is THE most important player in the squad. All great teams had or have a great goalkeeper. An average team with a great goalkeeper does so much better than it would otherwise. Oggy for example used to keep us in games with good saves, marshall the defence, claim crosses and then turn defence to attack with good, quick bowling out to the wings.
A great goalkeeper is a must, and it is better to spend whatever budget on the best you can get and build from there.
We don't have that.
I would rather we got rid of anyone else even Fleck or J.o'b or whoever and get the very best keeper we can get.
Goalkeepers are often cheaper than outfield players and to me it makes no sense doing what we are doing.
What SP is doing baffles me to be honest

You can be fantastic keeper, but if the 4 defenders in front of you keep making big mistakes then you are not going to be able to keep constantly saving their bacon.

My worry with him is his command of the 6 yard area, rather than the back 4 putting him in trouble all the time.

He seems really tentative on crosses and with his catching and coming out for balls.
