If we don’t get Rushworth permanently who would you like to sign?

where is Dovin at ? Would you trust him?

I’ve always like Dan Bentley who is at wolves but he hasn’t played much even tho I think he’s better than Sa

No way could you ask Dovin to play a season in PL after year + out injured and also being very green.

Dovin ideally needs a loan out to championship top end.

Bentley has barely played at Premier League level ever, and hasn't played more than 20 games at any level since 2022. No thanks. He's like signing Simon Moore.

If I was a betting man I think he will end at Newcastle, but he would be an excellent choice.

Thankfully goalkeeper is the one position where if you want recognised quality you can easily find it at clubs further up the food chain who have them sat on the bench.

Dovin was not Premier league level when he was fit. Too lightweight and not commanding enough.
That is obvious after seeing Rushworth this season

Patterson is not the answer.

We are better than Dan Bentley now.

I'm resigned to Brighton not letting us keep him, but they've also not seen him in the PL. Is it beyond the realms that they ket us loan him for another season to see him develop at the top level without risk? Still young for a keeper.

Would enable us to spend the money in another area and Dovin will be plenty good enough in the Championship the year after if we do drop.

Dovin in that Jan-Feb had several performances that would match Rushworth’s quality.

In the right environment, I’m confident he can develop into a good goalkeeper that’s capable of making the jump in the next couple of seasons. Providing he’s recovered properly.

Bayern have got two keepers that are half decent that can’t get a game or on loan. Jonas Urbig who’s only 22 and got plenty of pedigree & Alexander Nubel I’d happily take one of them. Sure there’s plenty of decent keepers flying under the radar though!

Loan him out to a decent Championship club next season to prove himself and then we could well keep him ourselves or otherwise sell.

Filip Stankovic from Venezia could be good

Issa Doumbia is a fantastic midfielder for them too, probably the best player in Serie B

I'm assuming the second of those will be a future recipient of the FIFA Peace Prize.

He’d be a great addition for a top championship team. Comparing Dovin and Rushworth’s number last season, there’s a few categories where it’s closer than you think.

Good shouts…
Whilst going to them might as well triple up and grab Gianluca Busio too. Although it would be a gamble picking up anyone from Serie B unless they’ve got serious data backing etc. It’s the sort of thing we’ll have to do to unearth rough diamonds

Put in another thread, Lukas Hornicek from Braga. Could argue he’s a level above Rushworth too

In all seriousness, Boro if they don’t go up. Sol Brynn is a pretty average keeper at this level imo

Ramsdale

Seems Southampton don’t want him regardless of league and Newcastle looking at Trafford.

I remember him playing against us for Southend, and thought he was class then. However that was around 10 years ago !!!

Rushworths contract runs out June 30th 2027, which obviously means come July this year he enters his last year. If he really wants away he can play hardball with Brighton as many other players with other teams have done over the years when they want to force a move.
