100% this.Charges were dropped because the only witness stopped co-operating with the investigation. As is often the case in cases of domestic violence there isn’t much the police can do when the victim doesn’t co-operate with the prosecution. The evidence against him was made public and is extremely damning. The fact it wasn’t enough for criminal charges is more a depressing indictment of how little protection our criminal justice system offers to women who face violence from their intimate partners. To wish him the best of luck is disgusting and highly embarrassing.

I do think some of the comments on here about the alleged victim in question being trapped or paid off a little disrespectful to her. I'm not sure there is any evidence to support that.Doesn't mean he didn't beat the sh*t out of her and sexually assault her. It's sadly not rare for people to be trapped in an abusive relationship.
Fair play for not being a hypocrite. Unfortunately I can't claim the same. Whilst I detest what Greenwood did, I was there to cheer all of Marlon's goals and I know how abhorrent his behaviour, but I think he's one of the best footballers to pay for City since our prem days. She is aware of the full facts and appears to have forgiven him. She has made her life choices and unless anyone knows differently she appears at this time to be a happy, young mother and Greenwood is at least in public acting like a devoted father/partner. He was young, sometimes people do stupid things, let's hope he has learnt from this experience. I wish her and her family all the best.
N.B. before anyone accuses me of being an apologist I pretty much boycotted 2010 because the idea of cheering when that guy scored made me want to.

*edit, can't stand Lee Hughes and glad we never signed Luke McCormick who was a local lad. Not saying I'd support Greenwood if he played for us either, but I definitely did Marlon and so did most at the ground despite what they might say now.
