So.... this might be a pipe dream but quite often these things start out that way and then materialise into a fairtytale!

Many of us know Ronald of cefovid Uganda. For those of you who don’t, here is the amazing work he does...

Page not found – CEFOVID

Ronald is a true sky blue, he does everything he can to follow the lads through thick and thin whilst kitting out the local lads in sky blues colours.

I know this has been posted before but wouldn’t it be great if we could actually begin to set the wheels in motion for him getting to a game?

Clearly any Ugandan visiting the UK requires jumping through a number of hoops, not least when we’re in a global pandemic, but I for one would be happy to assist in making his dream come true, it feels like looking into whether this is a logistical possibility is the first hurdle.

It seems like a logical first step to see if this is actually possible before looking into raising some funds.

Below is Ronald’s Twitter account that he uses to voice his support for the sky blues and promote his work he does in Uganda.

@cefoviduganda

Please do let me know if anybody is willing to assist in looking into making this happen?

Great idea. Would imagine someone would need to ask him if he has a passport and how long it takes to acquire one if not. I'm sure if we started a go fund me the generous SBA would raise the money no problem !

I would wait until matches are played in front of crowds and Covid restrictions are relaxed. Post Covid he might need to get vaccinated before travelling anyway - not sure how far advanced that will be in Uganda.

When he does apply for a visa it might also be wise to get CCFC involved, as well as local media be it CWR and/ or Telegraph. Most importantly get a local MP or even the West Mids Mayor to endorse the visit & to make any representations if required.

As an aside in the meantime, would it be possible to fund Ronald access to ifollow - maybe from the Season Ticket Fund?

I’d imagine it would be incredibly difficult for him to actually get into the country.

What makes you think he'd do a runner when he got here?

The reality is that he would never be granted a visa and allowed into the country.

Why wouldn’t he? He only need to apply for a tourist visa.

Applying would be the easy part, I very much doubt it would be granted or if he’d actually be allowed in.

The ifollow thing is a great idea - the kids etc could all gather round and watch it too.

Genuinely what are you basing this on?

I’m pretty sure you can get a tourist visa from Uganda.

He could apply for one but I’d be very surprised if he was granted one, and if he was, if he would actually be allowed to enter the country.

Despite what the likes of the sun, express try to tell people, the UK border is actually tough.

I would be well behind this.

Think about how much of a life experience it would be for him. I agree about waiting until the crowds are back though. Perhaps the council could help in terms of civic reception or something? It is about time they did some good PR for the club.

Hi folks. It’s heart warming to see Ronald and the kids of Little Coventry wearing City shirts and enjoying themselves. It’s down to everyone that has donated anything to the cause or by simply sharing the information with others. One of the things that the money already has been used for is to help with WiFi and access to watch games.

There have been a few unsuccessful attempts over the last few years to get Ronald over here. It’s incredibly difficult for individuals in that area to get a visa. If anyone has any experience with the admin side of this please get in touch.

So are you suggesting no one from Uganda can come to the UK? Being a tourist is a legitimate reason to enter that’s why they give you a 180 day visa. Flights to and from Uganda are plentiful if no one can come I can’t see why they would fly there.

Imagine if this little satellite supporters club actually produced a player good enough to join the ranks. What a heart warming victory for social media and community that would be. It's fantastic to see the city shirts in any community worldwide though. Every credit to those who have donated and helped.

See the post above yours.
Where have I said no one could come here? Despite what the tabloids say the UK border is not open and it’d very hard for him to be granted one - that’s before he even gets to the border.

Has he already applied and been refused a visa? Please read my earlier post - get media support, but more importantly find an MP willing to make representations on his behalf and it is highly unlikely his visa application would be refused. The Home Office do not like negative media comment & they jump through hoops to appease MP's.

I work for an organisation that does a lot of work in sub saharan Africa and it's very very difficult to get visas for people. Our group operations director is based in Burka Faso and it took months of visits to the embassy in a different country in Africa, calls and visits from the home office here to our office and some secretive bureaucracy to have it signed off. We had to have return flight and a hotel paid for before they'd even consider it.

I think the idea that we'd be able to get someone over for a football game is fanciful.

Can we use the Season Ticket fund to get him access to games?

What does it actually take to get WiFi in Uganda?

Smile – Now you can

Superfast 4G LTE internet service that is affordable, high quality and reliable.

To answer my own question. About £130 will get you a 3mbps router with unlimited data. Add an iFollow international sub and you’re at about the cost of a ST I’d say?
