Torture the c**t every day, there's no rehabilitation that can ever fix something like this in a person.

It’s certainly what whole life orders (if they have them in Germany) are for. Not wanting to get into another death penalty discussion.

I agree but would never happen. He would just do the same as the c**t that ran young Keaton over here and vanish back to his home land.

This guy targeted a day care..

"Mental health" should be screened as soon as people enter a country.

If we had a reliable way to screen for this shit we should do it for everyone. Not sure we do though.

Was thinking about this earlier, definitely needs a large scale amnesty like there was in London back in the early 00s (can't remember the name of the campaign)

Think it should be permanent, give people the chance to hand them in and hit those hard who don't. Anybody carrying one, harsh punishment.

What do you make the punishment though, thats the problem. You can't bang them all up for a few years, there's no room and it would be totally disproportionate to other sentences. Give them a big fine that they'll pay back at a quid a week?

I know we've had, and possibly have, incompetent governments but can't help feeling there's not an easy answer here.

One thing we desperately need is more police or any kind of service that deals with the root causes. I don't exactly live in the ghetto but even here you see that kids start down the wrong path with a bit of anti-social behaviour and fuck all is done as there's no resources, then the level just creeps up and up until you reach a point where something serious is going to happen.

Stop and search needs to be constant and with consequences.

I'm not sure people carrying knives being sent down would be disproportionate. It should be standard, make them do hard graft.

Tesla doesn’t have self driving yet and I’m not sure it ever will with its methodology. It’s driver assist really. I’ve heard very good things about Waymo (googles tech) but it’s limited to cities it’s mapped out and have the right weather so far.

Agree tbh. Though I’d worry it would be the gimps like me getting scared and carrying a penknife for protection as a teenager rather than the c**t running about with a machete in their joggers.

Building prisons has to be national priority for me. Then go hard on violent crime and crimes against kids/the elderly like El Salvador did with gang members. I bet most police and schools could identify a wrong un watch list and as soon as they step out of line straight to prison/boarding school type places. Same with those people who have committed 100 crimes and are still out. Have a proper crackdown and most will realise the games up and go do something useful. Right now they think they’re untouchable.

I agree but there's so much infrastructure that needs building and no funding (or willingness to try different methods of funding) its not going to happen.

I have wondered if there was a safe way to give the sensation of being shot/stabbed and that being inflicted on a perp. Would that make them think twice if they experienced it themselves? It would almost certainly not be allowed by Geneva and probably be classified as torture.

I'm anti death penalty as I think it's counter productive as if you're saying it's OK to kill someone by the state for a crime then someone of that mindset could see that as murder can be justified and just the state are using it for the wrong things. You have to have the message killing is unacceptable and there are no exceptions.

Yep me too
It’s an interesting shout
I remember as a kid throwing rocks and stones at car trains as they went past green lane
Pretty dangerous and someone walking along the top of the bridge again by green lane on the a45
I imagine people weren’t overly impressed when their new car arrived with a smashed window and although no one died being hit with a train the police came in and talked of the dangers of playing round trains and showed pictures of it and I’m sure we all thought don’t he stupid I’m never gonna be hit by a train

So would knife and gun damage or even shown how it affects life’s lives be more powerful than the bonds kids are getting from gangs etc

If you aren’t scared of being caught and more scared of your friends I don’t know what will work other than education and offer of a hope and a future
Death penalty is for the birds fornthenreaosn

How much is because in some areas you have to either be in a gang or carry protection against them because we’ve let anti social behaviour run wild? I’m not saying go back to the days when I was a kid threatened with a battering in the meat wagon for the crime of playing football on a field, but equally some areas people don’t feel safe on the streets at all. Is it really beyond us to manage to have safe public spaces?

I’ve always felt we don’t take violence seriously enough. I’ve managed to go through life without punching a random or whatever. Those I know who haven’t were easily identifiable from about 14. Why can places like Singapore and Japan have safe streets and we can’t? Is it lack of police presence, lack of action on those we catch? I honestly don’t know.

Again, parenting plays a part.

Nothing worse than seeing when some little c**t is out with a knife and if they get stopped and searched you have people around shouting "leave him alone" and you also then have the parents acting like they are an angel. You see it all the time where the mum's are going ape shit at the police and saying their kids have done nothing wrong, only for the police to find a big fuck off knife.

See that bloke from the specials grandson who got killed in Cov, His favourite past time before he was stabbed included robbing people at gunpoint.

It's fucking weird when you see parents kicking off at police for daring to arrest or speak to their "angles". If I was rocking around with a sword every day then I'd have been shit scared of my mum, then the police when she rings them and then my mum again if I got bailed and went home.

Amnesty followed by military service for a year or two for carrying a knife. Would probably put 50% of those caught on a better path. Refuse the service and then go prison instead. This all alongside work in the community etc. to try and tackle root causes. That’s the best I can come up with.

The first question is are the current sentencing guidelines being used? For possession of a bladed article the sentencing range is 3 months to 2.5 years. All we hear about is people getting a slap on the wrist so if we're not applying the current sentencing guidelines why not?

Then you need to look at data on what happens when people come out. I suspect you'll find a huge problem here as we don't seem to be very good at rehabilitation and we need something more effective that locking people up and having them reoffend as soon as they are released.

Anti social behaviour absolutely needs to be clamped down on but again we've got the problem that every service has been cut or shut down completely. Where is the capacity coming from. Long term you can build things back up, albeit at a cost, but what happens in the short term.
