I'd booked the old De Vere to come up for a game and was told upon checking in that there'd been a mistake and they'd over booked. Make of that what you will.

Tbf they don't teach that kind of stuff on the curriculum now, I'd be amazed what our % of young people know about it in the UK. A lot of the figures you quote are probably the same people in each category and rather than concentrate on the negative 1 in 4, be positive about the 3 in 4 who are aware.

Only if taken as an option. Something we've not spoken about at home really, so probably a failing on our part, but I know my daughter knows very little about the world wars or even more recent conflicts of Falklands, Iraq, Afghanistan or even Ireland.

When we studied WW1 at GCSE we learnt about how it started, the Schlieffen plan, trench warfare, the Somme, the introduction of tanks, use of chemical weapons etc. Not one bit about the Easter rising despite its role in the eventual partition of Ireland.

Mrs BSB teaches whole classes of children at secondary school who have never heard of the Holocaust or even know when WW2 was, so despite it not being her subject she has to explain the bare bones of those events for pieces of literature to make some contextual sense.

Just as a certain individual in the US is now hijacking democracy after winning an election.
