I actually think we've got the core of a good league 2 team.

He works hard for the team but because of his lack of pace he gets caught with the ball a lot.. his game has definitely improved and it's a shame that his pace will ultimately be his downfall but a brilliant goal for him yesterday very pleased for the lad scoring the winner at Wembley... we are champions

One commentator said his goal was comparable to Messi. Now that is a bit OTT but if he can start scoring bread and butter goals as well he will be a big player next season

said pretty much the same yesterday. Think he's going to be really important for us next year.

The point actually is Thomas never seems to get any adulation compared to the others at all.

There were threads started earlier in the season blatantly slagging him off. Even after the Bristol goal some were still saying retain all the other players mentioned but he's not good enough.

I suspect he's just going to be one of those players whose work goes unnoticed most of the time.

So basically your problem is people apparently (although I don't remember anyone saying anything worse than Thomas looking like he's missing half a yard of pace) doing to Thomas what you constantly do to Bigi despite his many good performances, especially earlier in the season when he put in numerous MOM performances.

I'd agree with that to a point. Can't really say that's criticising either. It is what it is. The measure of how good he becomes is how he can use the tools he does have to overcome the one he doesn't have and as you've alluded to he's clearly making good progress with that.

Beavon's pass for Reid to cross was outstanding...he works so hard and it all paid off in that moment!

I said in the past that all George Thomas needed was his first goal and then he would get some confidence then become the player I've always thought he would be. What a story, been at the club since U8s and gets the winner infront of 45,000 Coventry fans.

He was awesome, shame about the bra though. WTF is that all about?

How long we'll be able to hold onto him in Div 2 is another matter.

It's to provide stats on distance covered during the game.

They do but even last week people couldn't see a need to retain him in the squad.

There really wasn't and if you read the thread most are dismissive of the OP. Also how is that any different to what you had to say about Burge being long gone yesterday despite a magnificent performance between the sticks including saving a goal he had no right to.

Rush of blood when I saw that twat beaming like the "Cheshire Cat" as if it was HIS CLUB, and HIS CLUB had won the Cup. Makes my skin crawl. Just for balance, if you'd care to read my earlier posts I mention Thomas.

Agree with all the comments, he's got it! Read reports on Twitter earlier from Jack Pitt-Brooke about interest from championship clubs this Summer. Out of contract as well, so I hope Robins convinces him to do another year, would be unbelievable in League 2 for us

Derby, Newcastle and Brighton are interested according to The Guardian journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke. We would only be due a £300k development fee. If what he said is true then he definitely won't be here come the summer, we couldn't compete with them clubs even if we were in the Championship.

I will hold my hands up and say that at the start of the season and after the Nuneaton pre season, I did not think he would cut it as a striker. He looked as though he needed an extra second or two to think about what to do with the ball. However, this judgement was based on him being played as an out and out striker. I still have reservations about him as a winger/out wide as I don't think he has the pace required. However, what he does have is good accuracy as recent goals (obviously including yesterday's effort) has shown. Might his best fit role therefore be as a number 10, playing in a hole between midfield and the striker, an area where maybe he will get that extra second or two to spot the pass, or position himself for when the loose ball comes out in phase 2 of the play for him to attempt a shot at goal. He is very accurate in terms of picking out a pass when he does deliver it, and I thought his corner taking yesterday was very good: first time in a while where I have felt that we might actually pose a threat at a corner, as he actually managed to clear the first man (something which many previous set piece takers have not done in recent times)

Anyone noticed the accurate passes from Reid set up both of Georges winning goals(Wycombe in Semi, and Oxford in final?)

I think the GPS thingies monitor biometric data on the players too - heart rate, oxygen saturation, etc. Helps in their training, apparently. Rugger-buggers have little pockets in the back of their jerseys to hold them, and they get taken out for analysis as soon as they get off the pitch (if they've been subbed, etc)

The problem we have with Thomas is that his contract is up in the summer so it's down to him and not the club. Burnley, Leeds and QPR have also been credited with an interest today.
