He was a great player for us many years ago !!
He's 35 now but I think he's still a good player at this level !!

I have heard this and to be honest I think he will still do a job.

Him and Greening would boss the Midfield!

Whilst I think him and Greening would do a good job, I think they already have better CM's in McGugan, Cohen and Moussi.
The 'Dolly with the Brolly' will do well to keep them all happy!

I still really really think we will do okay this year, the way we play will suit the lads left. Turner and McPake are like new players for us. If and it is a big if, Juke continues to develop then i can see us troubling a lot of clubs, fester spent big last year and were still pants so they do not actually cause major concern. Too many good clubs for us to trouble the top half maybe at the present state, but who knows what the future holds. If by some miracle we are top half come Jan, we may even have a budget to push on with!!

Aug 6...........Bring it on

Smiley - can you supply us with some of the happy pills you are on! There's optimism, blind optimism and that - we were pants last season, have lost a bunch of good players and you seriously expect us to do better than last year? I admire your attitude but fear the worst personally - a few injuries and we will be in real trouble.

Ha Ha...don't worry be happy!! In all seriousness, under AT we were not all that bad, hard to judge by season end, but can you honestly say we were not looking half decent last dozen games? We certainly haven't lost " a bunch of good players" yes we have lost 2 outfield players, The liar will be a miss, but as i said if Juke can continue we may not miss him too much. Do you think Gunna was outstanding last year? i don't and with Clingan in the middle and deegan fit and rareing to go...no loss there. Murphy is a very able replacement to KW so that is how i see it. Of course we are bear bones, but give the boys a chance, under Mr T we can play well. I truly believe that and to be fair that is not blind faith is it?

I think the reason we're all so despondent off-field problems apart, is the apparent lack of replacement thus far for Judas. I'm sure as soon as that department is sorted everything will look far rosier again.

Like him or loathe him, he demonstrated how completely deficient of quality we have been for so long, in the final third.

Forgetting the off the field baggage etc King was the best footballer we have had for a long time and will be impossible to replace especially as we don't even appear to be trying. Westwood was a better keeper than Murphy will ever be and Westy was worth a good 8 to 10 points a season - happy if Murphy achieves half that. Gunnarson was no world beater but was a first team regular, Carsley, McIndoe and Osbourne have also gone and not been replaced. Its all well and good saying Deegan will step up, hopefully he will but firstly he didn't set the league on fire when he first came into the team and secondly has he been affected long term by his serious injury. The kids are being bigged up along with O'Donovan but that is signs of desperation already - whilst the likes of Thomas and Bigiramana may help out we can hardly build a midfield around them. So our midfield is Clingan, Bell, Baker and McSheffrey - not exactly goign to strike fear into many teams and if any off them are injured we are bringing in kids. Like I said I honestly think we will be like Blackpool were in the Prem last year - lots of attack, fun but ultimately failure. Hope I'm wrong but unless something drastic changes I cannot see another outcome.

I fear Ashbyjan is right.

SISU will leave us in League 1. Their promise when they took over was "to leave the club in a much better state then they found it". More lies.

Your seriously concerned beacuse Carsley (got injured let clingan in ,never looked back) , Mcindoe and osbourne have gone? They are no good any of them, the system we played was working. I am not bigging the kids up all i said was we have lost 3 players that is all. The Liar is the only one who i will truly miss. A cracking player best for a long time, but as long as the TEAM can create goals all over we will be okay. I geniunly think we can thats all.

Its best if you don't mention Freddie or ROD if you want to continue the positive spin ;) You're right though, I do think we'll be ok.

Ashby - agree wholeheartedly regarding your views on King, but I think those on Murphy (which do appear to be the popular consensus) are misguided.

I loved Westwood, I thought he was great and if I'm honest some of the saves he puled off were extraordinary. However, did you read that post I made regarding Murphy that the Scunthorpe Telegraph editor sent me? He and their fans held Murphy in equally high regard if not better. Of course I can't yet compare until I've seen him between the sticks for us over a sustained period, but I certainly don't think its a position we should be concerned - particularly last year when I thought KW was not half as good as he had been in the previous two seasons.

Rob - I am not concerned about Murphy - I think he is a very able replacement and the best we could have hoped for. I was a massive fan of Westwood's and I will be happy if Murphy is anywhere near as good. The rest of the team is what frightens me - we have a first team squad of 27 with only 13 players with any real experience and 2 of them are keepers. A few injuries, which will inevitably occur and we will be in real trouble - I am sure AT will instil some fight and attacking intent but you can only go so far before reality sinks in.

That's fair enough, although I remain in the minority who still thinks we will add some numbers before and after the season has started, regardless of which board is in place.

I do think our well documented financial troubles are very serious and mean that quality is unlikely unless we can harness what we have, but I'm still optimistic that they know what's required and will have things in place to resolve it ... or at least I hope so :)

Greening and McGugan is the best midfield partnership in the Championship IMO. Hopefully Forest and One other can stop Leicester getting promoted.

I think if they were to play our diamond with Greening sat back and Mcgugan going forward they would be quality. We need a McGugan type :)

No surprise to me with Roy, 9 in 15 at Hartlepool in L1 on loan sounds like a bloke who can do it in the Championship to me, as I say regularly, and thats exactly what I saw on Saturday! What are the odds on him to be our top goalscorer next year? With his pace and predatory instincts in the box, I can see him getting 15+, no worries.
