The Labour kiddies are all jumping around like they won a majority. For some strange reason they attracted more of the substantial UKIP vote of 2015 than the Tories, that's all. I'm no fan of the Lib Dems but Nick Clegg's comments about MP's on all sides showing some solidarity on vital issues rather than inflaming those that they disagree on, were wise. The country takes one step forward and two steps back.

I'm a big fan of Mark Steel but last night he was on about taking the vote of 70 year old men because they're all tories. OK, he was half joking but it pissed me off and I turned him off.
I find it annoying to dismiss peoples rights or opinions based on age.
If there's one thing we should all agree on is that it is healthy for our county and the democratic process to have good turn outs as we did last night and as we did for the EU referendum.

No its like saying I never felt directly effected by WWII, I wasn't really but my Mum & Dad sure as hell were. Knowing about something and being effected by it are rather different things.
It's not about excusing Corbyn, it's about working out what threats are current and real.
I no longer worry about my family walking down the street and getting blown up by an IRA bomb.
I do worry about them getting attacked by some Islamic fundamentalist with a bomb, or with a lorry or whatever he can do the most damage with.
That's why we shouldn't be arming their sponsors, that's why we shouldn't be letting them out of the country to fight in Libya or Syria.
Next time a republican bomb goes off on the British mainland I might need to revise that train of thought but until it does I'll be more concerned with a repeat of the events in London and Manchester in recent weeks and the many fuck ups by May and her colleagues that helped contribute.

The SNP retained my university's constituency by 2 votes-bollocks. Should have stayed a year longer or repeated my Advanced Cosmopolitan Elitism module.

I just don't get the Corbyn is great thing.IMHO, a lot of labour voters thought Corbyn was unelectable - as did most of his MPs AND Mrs May. Turns out his vision is shared by a lot of people.

Very true-that is why when people like yourself and Grendel call my generation naive scroungers for wanting free tuition and maintenance grants when you had both, the young don't vote Tory. I had the luck of leaving school when the recession your generation caused got into full swing, at least you were settled in full time employment by then I guess.
No I don't have to worry about IRA bombings. Irish civilians don't have to worry about being shot for protesting either.
Its utter folly to load students with huge debts most of which will never be paid back.

The thing is if the SNP had held onto their seats against the Conservatives in Scotland then we'd be waking up to him as PM today. No he didn't take the government but he confounded all expectations. To go from a 25 point lead to a hung parliament in 6 weeks is incredible.I just don't get the Corbyn is great thing.
He didn't get elected. He came second in a two horse race. The Tories didn't even put anything forward worth voting for. Someone like Starmer would have done better. Maybe even won.
