This idea of 'let's pick someone with a northern accent' wasn't necessary for the Tories was it?

1. Posh accent

2. Likes 3 word catch phrases

3. Cracks jokes

4. Can hold a full pint

The votes will roll in.

A monkey could of been tory leader, and the result would of been the same.
Corbyn lost the election, rather than Boris won it.

Why would teachers do that when they have so much time off , I know as I have to cover my own holidays

It’s great for me as my wife is a teacher

One simple question. If it's so easy and such a doss why can't they find anyone to do it?

While I agree the sentiment is a bit over the top it can be argued there is some truth in it.

Labour (and others) went for the broad stroke of policies rather than one issue. They went with trying to explain why these things would be good whereas what the Tories wanted wouldn't be. Trouble with this is it can come across as condescending and smarmy.

Tories went with KISS. Just make it one issue as much as possible and everything else keep as basic and vague as possible. Repeat the same old short catchphrase over and over. Put out disinformation and smears and assume people won't check. Distract people to negate negative press by the same means. They treated people like they were stupid, they were just clever enough to not let that view slip out(or at least not very often and if they do, like JRM, you get sidelined). Look at the huge majority they got with these tactics.

Labour/lefties get worked up and emotional because they genuinely care about improving things, hence at times the frustration resulting in derogatory language. Conservatives are (on the whole) more concerned about the effect on themselves and if there is benefit to others they can use as leverage even better. If it makes people's lives worse, keep it hidden.

If it was the other way round and we had a system more akin to the Scandinavian model where the likes of Conservatives wouldn't have the same influence and thus able to run the system to their own benefit like they do here do you not think they wouldn't get frustrated and call people stupid. Look at some of the billionnaires who very quickly result to insults when a board prevents them from doing something they want.

This is our 2016 Trump-Clinton moment. Clinton was more progressive and tried to explain her policies but came across as arrogant and smarmy. Trump went with a catchy slogan, entertain the masses at rallies and just make false claims about others that you assume people won't check.

This is a potentially dangerous trend for the future.

Agree with the first part in bold but not the second. Trump employed much more progressive rhetoric than Clinton because he knows those policies are more popular.

Bring back the workhouses, why go back to the 70s with Corbyn when you can go back to Victorian times with Coventrian.

I really hope this isn't the way things go. Maybe if we all hadn't been so accepting of the fact politicians lie over the years we wouldn't have this mess now. The thought that the solution will be for everyone else to ramp up the lies and deceit does not sit well with me.

I hope it doesn't go that way too but it almost inevitably will. Trump, referendum and now election it's done astounding well for. It's now become "if you can't beat them join them".

It’s not about ‘increasing’ immigration for the sake of it. But where do you get doctors/nurses if the country can’t produce it’s own? It’s multi layered and very complex.... not just the sub total of Farage standing in front of a poster saying ‘don’t let them in’

My niece is currently training to be a nurse; my daughters' friend is a diabetic nurse; and my mates daughter is also a nurse. But WHY can't we produce more of our own? We do we have so many coming over? Is the training and education better and cheaper overseas? And, if so, how come so many come to the UK on student visas to study in our universities?

I'm not trying to be smart, I honestly don't know why we can't produce our own NHS doctors and staff and why there is this necessity to recruit from abroad.

Shit wage. I earn more than double my sister in law (nursery nurse) for sitting on my arse doing computers as she’d say. (I work smart not hard)

You know what you are getting into wages wise before you start, but she didn’t care about that. She wanted to help people and She deserves more.

More money needs investing. I’d be more than happy to pay more tax out of my earnings. A lot wouldn’t. Tell me that’s not what it ultimately boils down to.

Not a fucking chance I’d be working my arse off to help people. That’s not me. These people deserve more hard cash.

Me too. Many others were willing to as well.

Labour were offering those worse off the chance to get a share of the taxes of those who are comfortable but they turned that down in the name of their precious Brexit. So stuff 'em.

I’ve read through your posts and I don’t necessarily disagree with your political stance, in fact I’d guess we agree on most of it. But i’m not having the ‘serves them right’ rhetoric. The ‘them’ is people in my family and if things do go as tits up as you are suggesting is also ultimately going to be you and me. So wind it in a bit.

I'm sorry if your family may struggle and I don't wish ill on anybody. I just find it difficult to have sympathy for people who are bringing themselves and their family into potential struggles all in the name of Brexit.

Leave really does mean leave to some people and they have lost track of what really matters.

Why should a qualified nurse from New Zealand or Australia have to jump through more hoops to work in the UK than a European worker ?

Absolutely this. I have no issues with someone who has the skills to come here if there is the need.

And if the existing rules effectively seperate EU from Non-EU citizens - that's hardly the inclusive goal that we Brits and champions of diversity should be aiming for isn't it?

While I’m here anyone who genuinely has an issue with immigration can block me right now and never see the amazing library of gifs I’ve still got to share. And if anyone think they are going to ‘send me back’ good luck packing me off to Jamaica, South Africa, Scotland, The Netherlands and that one last little bit to Manchester.

You are not that naive surely. As much as I call you a bellend from time to time I know you’ve got your head screwed on.

This very night I’ve heard immigration as the very reason told directly to my face several times.

Looking at the seats contested by The Brexit Party.

Most of them were in constituencies with big Labour majorities and were of no significance in the overall result.

All the fuss about Brexit handing the election to Labour were a facade IMO.

Who’d have thunk that free training being taken away. For what is ultimately a fucking dogshit job with mental hours and shit pay unless you REALLY love helping people or enjoy wiping shit off someone’s arse, would lose applicants. I’m baffled.
