Nope. I am not saying that...and nor am I believing it myself. Just relaying what I recall of the report.

Well having a browse further back there are some teenage-style rants and spats. Funnily enough no lessons to teach at 8.30 at night!

Your report says that those with less experience of a particular issue make worse decisions in relation to it. Of course my education in physical sciences must bow to your University of Life diploma in the arena of climate science.

Who has said that other than those sneering with thier opposing political views?

It is a mere distraction that many seem to fall for every time. I believe he WILL appear & face the questions when the time suits him

If you find yourself on an anonymous medium randomly shouting “I’m good enough” at total strangers while disclosing your full finances as some kind of proof.

Well, maybe the Internet isn’t for you.

For reference Ethiopia managed to plant 250 million trees in 12 hours once.

Why do you need a machine to plant a sapling? 3 men and 3 spades will do it. You seem to be working on the premise that that it’s going to be down to one single object that’s got to do this work solidly on its own over 20 years. You need to add a dose of reality to your thinking.

That's actually hilarious. A dose of reality?

The maths speak for itself. 3 trees per second, for 20 years straight...

Just to add, I'd be saying the same if the Tories or Green Party said 2 billion trees by 2040.

It's physically not possible. If they said 2100, then a small possibility.

There's your dose of reality. If you can't see the promise is completely unachievable, then I really don't know what else to say to you on the matter.

If you have any 100 people to do it.. then the same amount of time it takes 1 man to plant 1 tree.

Apparently there are 465 beans in a tin of Heinz. if someone is putting in 1 per second that takes them over 7 minutes to fill a tin. How are there so many tins in a supermarket.

That's how ridiculous you sound.

Dude. People keep posting links showing countries doing it at massive scale. You’ve seriously got the wrong end of the stick on this. Wiki says a professional tree planting team can do 5000+ in a day. Averaging that over 24 hours that’s roughly a tree every 17 seconds. 17x 3 gives you 51 teams of tree planters at your figures. Double it for holidays/weekends/etc and that’s around 100 professional teams of tree planters doing it with ease. That ignoring massive voluntary efforts. It’s popular with business as a bit of PR, my Mum is a tree warden and has a list of people but not enough places to put trees. It needs government intervention to identify sites and direct efforts.

Edit: I’ve had a beer and fucked the maths here. Point stands even if it’s a team of 1000.

Edit edit: or have I? @Ian1779 help!

Yup because the upper pay scale goes over £40k and senior leadership roles can go anywhere up to £90-100k. Mind you it was considerably easier to go up the pay ladder when promotion was automatic

Just been doing some research and 2 crab apple trees coming to the skybluetony back garden before Xmas and a cherry tree going in the front garden in the spring. You don’t need a big garden for either of these.

Apparently U.K. councils have chopped down 110,000 trees in the last 3 years and often because they simply don’t have a budget to maintain them.
How on earth do you maintain a tree? There are frigging thousands of them huddled together in the New Forest & similar. They just grow if left alone. Anyone that gets too close just needs to be reminded of the risk they are taking by moving closer to the tree!
