Who was the “awful person” in Friends?I enjoyed it, but both Gavin and Stacey in particular are a right pair of whiny twats. How I Met Your Mother did a similar thing where you're expected to root for a main character who's just an awful person. Friends as well, actually.

Rachel flew across the world specifically to fuck up a wedding, Chandler stole his best friend's girlfriend and treated Janice like a piece of shit for years
Ross abused his position as a professor, sacked his daughter's male nanny because he thought it was all a bit gay, didn't tell Rachel they were still married and didn't seem to give the slightest shit that she was taking his daughter across the world to live
Phoebe was a preachy arsehole about ethics who contradicted herself every single one, made Ross seem the bad guy for suggesting a little girl's cat should go back to the little girl rather than be the ghost of her dead mum or whatever, sabotages Joey's work and guitar lessons, strings the nerd guy along for years before finally dumping him while he's on holiday with her. She's easily the evil twin
