The army being called in was a mistake because it wasn’t seen as a neutral arbiter and because the soldiers were trained for warzones instead of civilian riots. Which led more often than not to the state killing its own citizens.
You can’t look at the one time in recent history we used the army in this way and completely dismiss it. If a soldier shoots dead someone from either side it will get much worse.

Absolutely agreeThe army are not trained to deal with this kind of shit. They're trained to shoot to kill, call in artillery, drive tanks, march in tight formation, etc. etc.. They've got no powers of arrest, beyond those that you and I have.
