We wouldn't. If he wants to carry on playing football he will have to lower his demands wherever he ends up. He is out of contract in the summer.

We can't - probably a quarter of that is our limit and it makes you less surprised about Wednesday's ongoing lifelong financial problems.

A month? So, just over 5 grand a week?

That's not so bad is it? :thinking about:

And we wonder why football is in such a state. Madine on 21k a month and nouble I read on here the other day on 18k a month. For 2 decent league 1 players who are at best championship squad players. Football is in a bad way.

Sad to be honest. Have to keep charging £22 a ticket I guess.

One could argue that he's in the top 100 players in his position in the UK. £250k per year isn't so excessive when you think of it like that. The 100th best derivatives trader in the City earns an awful lot more.

Talking about football going mad, Thiery Henry has just accepted a 80k a week offer to be a sky sports pundit !!

Just to save any more confusion.

A month = A month
A week = A week

So 21k a month = £5250 a week

Either way 5000 a week is way out of our reach and most other clubs in this League, if this level is where he stay's at.. His interview the other day was the same as any other player in his position.. He stating he is out of contract, but will cost no fee, Wednesday want him off the books and he is open to offers as he is fighting for a living... Decent enough player but not someone you can't replace if he decides that he has better options elsewhere.

I'm not 100%, but i would think an average rotation player in the championship would be on this sort of money. So although i agree its mad for his ability it maybe the going rate for that standard and that's where his agent will be heading first... SP has multiple positions that need looking at so if Madine gets interest it maybe hard for SP to compete and if its from a level above forget it..

No you couldn't. Each club in the Premier League would have at least 4 strikers on their book better than him, at least 2 in each Championship team and at least 10 players in League 1.

So unlikely to be in top 200.

Using your numbers, which I don't necessarily agree with: 20x4 = 80; 24x2=48. 80+48+10= 138. Unlikely to be in the top 200?

It's funny that this gets mentioned, yet there have been no previous statements saying that Madine's wages will be an issue..

They won't be IMO as long as a couple of the surplus types on top dollar can find somewhere to move on to .

He's a Barnsley fan IIRC so possibly a connection or seen it in print or heard it down the pub
Lets face it it could well be possible we gave Baker and Bell more than that while in that division
