He was awful last time he was here! That's why we didn't buy him. Think it was Scunthorpe away on Sky when he missed a host of very easy chances. Looked a bit of a donkey I thought.

He was 19, in a higher division than we are in now, made 9 substitute appearances, not coming on before the 79th minute in any of those games. But, you know, let's just vilify him anyway.

While others have pointed out it was 9 in 15, i'll point out O'Donovan has had years to try and capture the form he had at Hartlipool and hasn't done so.

Leon Clarke has had weeks! Therefore there is no comparison at this right moment!

What I remember about Madine is the panic he caused the opposition when balls went into the box. He has that Peter Crouch height that people can't cope with, and he's proven over the last 2 years that he can score goals. I was well pissed off we didn't sign him first time round.

As for ROD, he hasn't been given a chance to replicate his Hartlepool form - and probably never will be given one here with the system we play. Best to loan him out or sell.

Haha, I certainly wasn't comparing them! It would just have been an intriguing coincidence.

Anyone know if this is likely to be a perminant or just a loan deal?... Also think he'll now be great at this level. Living in Sheffield i saw him play a few games last year (went with my wednesday supporting friends) and its clear how much he has improved since he was with us first time round

Ah, I look forward to much wailing and beating of breasts if he signs.

It'll most probably be a loan.

Robins wouldn't be stupid enough to bring in a player who could be spending some time in a prison!

apparently he is 6ft3.......... so not quite Crouchy height but tall enough, lets put it this way!

I would be pleased if we sign him. Id be pleased about us signing any striker who scored 18 goals in the division we are in last season. From what ive seen he looks to have massively imroved since he was last with us, for what was only a brief stint as it was. He was here over three years ago now, and was only 19 at the time, lets remember that.

Personally I think 70/30.

Di Canio wanted Madine before the new buyers came in.

If we had a chance of getting Madine, it'll probably go out the window if Di Canio has the money!

Madine will go where the cash is!

"Swindon Town have been put up for sale in order to avoid administration, with debts thought to be around £13m.
The club's owner, Andrew Black, is unwilling to put in further funds, and is actively seeking fresh investment".

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21047858

That rules Di Canio's skint Swindon out!

I think he knows that, He was just using it as an example of how Di Canio wont have the funds to buy Madine!

What about this bit?

'It is thought meetings have already taken place to discuss whether money will be made available to Di Canio to strengthen his squad before Thursday's transfer deadline'

Doesn't sound like a no-go to me. It sound's like a 'definite maybe'

Meetings don't mean he'll get what he wants.

You sometimes have meetings just to be nice to the person who wants to have the meeting with you!

But yes I agree he might get what he wants but with this new owner just bailing them out of 13 million, I don't think he'll get the money before the end of todays transfer window!

Our options up front are now very limited, especially if Clarke or Elliott were injured. Although I thought Madine was a bit injury prone himself of late?

it seems a bit odd to me that they would let him go. if you look at their other recognized strikers - they have:

Chris Maguire - 0 goals scored forthis season (or altogether from the looks of it)
Chris O'grady - 6 goals scored this season
Leroy Lita - 1 goal scored this season

in fairness Lita could do a job for them (his 1 goal is in 1 game) but he is only on loan, the other two dont look up to much.

Agree. I am intrigued. That is one that could either turn out as a great bit of business or we will never hear from him again.

I did see on one of the deadline day threads that Henshall is touted as going to Stoke on loan rather than us!

I think both players will come to us in the loan window and will be here in the next few weeks.
