What has happened to the lad? One of our brightest looking talents in years at the start of the season and now he looks scared to make a challenge and reluctant to play a simple, forward pass. Have we seriously ruined the kid already?

never rated him, simple case of him being thrown in to a mans game, u get idiots on here after one game saying what a player. truth is who knows

hes an attacking forward midfielder who like most of the side is playing out of position!

He has great vision and awareness im im sure he'll come good soon! Thomas has stolen his lime light recently which isn't a bad thing really!

We're bottom of the league and been poor all season. You can't expect a 17 year-old to come in and fix that.

He's a teenager playing in a difficult system, in and out of a team bottom of the league in a tiny squad.

Give him a break. He showed glimpses of quality in the 2nd half with 3 fantastic through balls in behind the defence.

Played 1 decent pass all game, Ran around a lot. His tackling was awful. Needs to be rested for a few games or maybe go back and play with the under 18s again to re-build his confidence.

It seems to me since he was sent off he has been scared to tackle and hasn't looked the same player.

Thorn publicly blamed bigi for us losing the game when he was sent off. Since then completely different player, real shame with the great start he had. Yesterday abit better from him but nothing to speak of.

Some good movement on Saturday for first hour but still that nagging tendency to play the 50/50 chance backwards and sidewards instead of forwards - completely nullifies the attacking opportunity -it really does annoy me.

I think it's easy to blame the sending off and the Thorn's comments as the reason behind his dip inform but I don't buy it. They'd have had a chat behind closed doors and it would have been sorted and bigi would have been supported through it.

It's more to do with he's a kid thrown at the deep end and it's just the usual dip in form you would expect. Look at Christie the other week v Brighton. I also don't think it helped that wood was left back as hussey would have ran past him giving him extra options on the left.

He'll come good again he just needs some pressure taking off him. I'm not sure why some fans revel in the "I knew he was no good from the start" attitude.

Some of the young lads get muscled off the ball too easy and they become easy targets for the other teams. I like bigi and his passing game.

am i the only one who thinks he has alot more in his locker than we have seen so far this season?? I get the feeling some one or a some people (coaches and manager) are telling him to play away that doesn't suite his game....

You hold them back they will never develop into the player they should

Nope. I agree.

He seems to have everything. He is two-footed on the ball, has good passing ability, a good engine and apparently an excellent shot on him. I think he could turn out to be a great player. He just needs time.

I agree to a point with most points mentioned.

I do believe his sending off has played a part, but more the public bollocking / finger pointing Bigi got from Thorn is the main factor here.

He hasnt been the same since this. AT was too quick to blame it all on the Bigi, and he was only 17 then wasnt he? How demorilising must that have been. He would he looking up to AT then, and those comments would have told him not to play like it again.

He reminds me of how Doyle was when we first got him; he was billed up to be a tough tackling midfielder and when we first saw Doyle, he would put a challenge in. This lasted a very short period into his CCFC career, and eventually we trained the ability (admitidly Doyle had very little ability imo) out of him.

Bigi is similar to that, but fortunately has a bit more to his game than Doyle. But I do fear we're training him into being a different player than he actyally is. Maybe it would be beneficial if he went back to the under 18's for a bit. Atleast then he'd get coached better and to be the player we first seen again.

Bigi at 21 will be a completely different proposition, it is unfortunate his introduction to the squad has been at such a difficult time. He has time on his side.

Played very well yesterday when he got forward into attacking positions played some great passes, always plays with his head up and has great vision. I think his problem this season has been mentally, too inexperienced, poor positioning on the pitch and lapses of concentration.
Based on natural ability he is the best player to come through the club imo in a long time.

The thing that gets me is that we are constantly told and read that Bigirimana is the most skilful/flair/tricks style of player we have at the club from training but he never shows this during the games. It has to be down to "doing what he is told" which is a shame. We should be encouraging creativity from our younger players.

I agree though, he looks a different player from the one at the start of the season. So much raw potential, I can't help but feel at a different club they would be getting more out of him.

I'd say thats kind of different from being told that Bigirimana is consistently the most skilful player with the most tricks at training but hey ho.

As for McDonald, I can't help but feel there's still more to come from him. Just needs fitness and a continuous run of games.

he's scared to challange because of the red card and how harsh thorn was on him for it, and the backwards pass is because of clingan imo.

Went to see the U18's play and win yesterday. They play in completely different manner to the first team. They are organised, work hard, have some skilfull players, pass carefully but positively, attack at speed and like to the ball wide to cross in for the forwards, they do not play the diamond. Cameron, Christie, Thomas and Bigirimana were all brought up and taught in that philosophy, it is what has got them noticed for the 1st team. And yet they clearly have to play in a different manner for the first team. Add into the mix that they have to play because of player shortages, dont get rested when they should and the undoubted effect that this seasons 1st team results have on confidence then it is no wonder they are playing scared to express themselves. They have had little good support from more senior players and repeatedly get blamed by the manager - they are young lads, young lads make mistakes! it isnt their fault they are having to do more than should be expected. Bigi will come good but he is only 17 not a seasoned pro - give him a break.

If we had a bigger squad then the kids could go out on loan to learn the game. Be introduced slowly. 20 minutes as a sub etc build on that until they are mentally and physically ready. Look at Wellbeck as a classic example. We have been forced to play them far to young too often. Bigi has loads of ability, just needs a rest and his confidence building again. Given our circumstances we are not in a position to that. We should support them and not moan continually about "negative tactics. I would rather a safe pass sidesways or backwards than a suicidal 50 yard cross field ball. PUSB

Problem is that when he does try a trick, like his "trap ball between legs and jump in the air" yesterday, he loses the ball and just looks stupid; like a kid who is the best in the playground being taught a lesson in a proper mens game.

He's probably a year off being ready to start at Championship level, but our threadbare squad means we've had to use him too often and too soon. His positioning really is terrible, and he tends to panic when he has "too much time" and try a Hollywood pass that rarely comes off. His closing down is also very ineffective, although he always tries (sometimes too much) and gets sucked into areas that the opposition exploit, carving us open. He is also very small and fragile for what is a very physical, fast-paced league; if we were playing in Spain or Holland, I've little doubt he'd be flourishing much more. Think about how Boozy struggled to adjust to the pace here-he was also very technically gifted, but couldn't hack the style of football opposition teams played.

In terms of natural ability and potential, he is a cracking prospect. His first touch, skill and natural fitness are fantastic. His first-half showing against Burnley was the most skillful and technically brilliant that I've seen by a City player since Hadji. He will come again. We just have to hope that his over-exposure before he is ready aids his development in terms of experience, rather than has an adverse effect by hitting his confidence.

And to the fans who are sounding like they are glad he's struggling-please, get a life!

And OSB-no, they don't "repeatedly get blamed by the manager"; he's made about 3 comments, and at least as many about senior pro's, and has also on at least two occasions said that it's the experienced players who are letting the side down (as you point out).

There aren't many youth teams that can step up to Championship level and do as well: 95% of players they are up against at youth level will not make it as pro footballers. Whereas at Championship level, they are playing against much better, stronger and cannier opponents capable of exploiting naivety and poor positional sense that can only come after extensive experience of playing at a high level.
