I'd like to think that thousands of our fans singing that on Saturday were not because they happened to both be East Asian. But it would be utterly depressing if they were.

Edit: To be clear as an observation of those singing it, I'm sure they don't realise what they are singing is offensive and people should think first. Same with the Lati song.

No, basing a chant on the racial stereotype that East Asian people look alike is not the same as one based on people's haircuts.

It was unthinking rather than malicious, but that doesn't make it ok.

I know, I'm hoping people weren't singing it because of that. In the minds of those singing, it's the same because they were both wingers with a similar haircut.

It's still very ignorant. It's like the Lati song. People don't realise it can be offensive.

I definitely don't think it was done with racist intentions it's just ignorant more than anything.

It doesn't matter how its meant to be taken it could still be considered racist and would cause the club a problem if picked up on.

It's not really worth it for the sake of a joke is it?

Just because something isn't intentionally racist (or whatever) doesn't mean that it isn't. It's making a joke based on a racist stereotype.

He had the same hair. I’m not sure it’s as bad as people are making out. If someone came on with an Afro we’d call them a shit Simms even if they’re not English or even black. Both had the standard issue Asian man haircut, so they looked a bit alike. I think comparing it to monkey chants is ludicrous tbh.
