What about?

...................Murphy.....................
........Cranie...McPake...Wood........
Keogh................................Hussey
..........Clingan...Bigirimana............
................McSheffrey
.......O'Donovan......Jutkiewicz.......

Lets face it, we're going to be under the cosh a fair bit I would imagine. This way, we are more solid in the heart of the defence, have 2 wing back that can get up and down the wings to help out defence/attack, Sammy and Gael to win and distribute the ball in the middle of midfield, Sheffers to create things in the hole and still have 2 strikers up top.

I would go for the team in the first post, maybe Wood instead of McPake.

I'd opt for the two wing backs gives us more options and I think we'll be playing mainly on the break rather than trying to run the game for the majority of the time.

But really does highlight the gaps when you see the squad  striker has to be a priority - you needs goals to survive this league and that team isn't screaming goals for me

No chance we'll play 3-5-2 against Festa as they play 4-5-1

am worried thorn will go with christie at rb with keogh and cranie cb to the detriment of our team as i cant see how he can go with a kid in our situation when there is simply no need and he isnt ready for it either from what ive seen in pre season!

back 4 tomw should be Keogh Cranie Wood Hussey but can see wood on the bench with christie in the team.

if this happens then it will be obvious they dont think wood is they player they thought as i remember coleman saying that thorn rated wood as the best centre back in the division before we signed him.

Thats before his form last season! I think the OP team, but Baker out for ROD and Sheff in the "hole". I'd rather see Keogh at RB, too.

I think it will definitely be 4-1-2-1-2 diamond tomorrow that is our plan A formation. 3-5-2 with wing backs is one of the hardest formations to play, and I if we played used it against a 4-5-1 both wing backs will get pushed back into virtually a 5-3-2 which will allow their full backs more license to get forward. At lead the diamond allows us to get bodies in the central midfield area and hopefully stop them from playing.

Personally I rate McPake far higher than Wood. He always seems more assured and he stood out more me at Barnsley away (ironically when he injured his back) as one of the few composed players we had that day...

I'd probably go with the first team selection, though 3 5 2 could work well against other teams in the division

Is McPake fully fit? Just because he played with the kids against Spinx the other day - I assumed he was a little behind in training/fitness?!?!

Saying that, after the sounbites from Thorn this pre-season it sounds to me like it'll be Keogh and Cranie in the middle.

didn't he play like 10 mins that day?

My team
--------------Murphy
Keogh-----Cranie---Mcpake/Wood--Hussey
----------------Clingan
----Bell-------------------Bigri
----------------Mcsheffey
---------ROD--------------Juke
To be honest it is a toss up between Mcsheffery and Baker for the CAM position as I think they were both shocking in our last pre season friendly against Norwich.

I'd play:

Murphy
Keogh Cranie Wood Hussey
Clingan
Bell Thomas
McSheffrey
Juke ROD

S: Dunn, McPake, Bigirimana, Baker, Platt/Jeffers

Thorn will probably go with:

Murphy
Christie Keogh Cranie Hussey
Clingan
Bell Baker
McSheffrey
Juke ROD

S: Dunn, Wood, Bigirimana, Thomas, Platt/Jeffers

Don't think we should be messing with the system to be honest, let Leicester worry about us. Our diamond should be enough to deal with their midfield 3.

your correct AT thinks Keogh is a far better centre back that full back - so I reckon Christie will start which in my humble opinion would be the wrong choice in this type of game.

I dunno, I'd say a local derny is exactly the right game for a Coventry kid to make his debut. He'll certainly understand the importance of a good result.

Point out where I've made fun of the team?!?!?!

I'm a little pessimistic, sure, but we've just come off a season where we were close to being relegated, we've lost our 2 best players, lost a number of squad players and only signed 2 goalkeepers. The squad/team is therefore weaker (using simple common sence) than a poor squad last season so (again using simple common sence) it'll take something special to better 17th.

And my optimism with this club went out of the window long ago - following them for 20-odd years can do that to a man!

I wouldn't mind a youngster or two at least have a bit of passion in the team and im not too inspired by alot of the players we already got. How is keogh at centre back? i've only seen him play there was and he was just ok and i rate him at RB

No, that's me saying if they are shite he's not going to tell the media that - when would a half sane manager ever do that and affect their confidence?!?!

I don't think you understand what slagging off is....but judging from your post's there's a lot you don't understand!
