PUSB: 'From the Boardroom' versus Crawley Town

After each matchday programme, we will be publishing the 'From the Boardroom' article on our website. For Saturday's match against Crawley Town, Coventry City Chairman, Tim Fisher wrote the column and his article is published below:

Good afternoon and welcome to our game against Crawley Town.

I’d like to welcome the fans who join us at the Ricoh Arena from Crawley, and wish you a safe journey today.

Today we and other clubs up and down the country in the EFL will be supporting the Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign.

You will see the corner flags at the stadium today are a rainbow coloured version, in a show of solidarity to support lesbian, gay, bi and transgender fans, players and staff across the game. Many players will also be wearing rainbow laces and captain’s armbands.

It is important that we as a club and community support this important campaign, both now and throughout the year. We want Coventry City matches, both home and away, to be an inclusive environment where anyone and everyone can support their team, irrespective of their sexual orientation, and that LGBT fans know they can support the team in a safe and welcoming environment.

We will be further displaying our equality and anti-discrimination stance later in the season, with our dedicated fixture for Kick It Out. There were reports at our away game against Luton of two racist and LGBT discriminatory incidents prior to the match, which we completely condemn. This goes to highlight the importance of actively taking part in these campaigns, and the role which we have in eradicating from football and society of this type of abuse.

We are currently working on a new Supporters Committee, to replace the Supporters Consultative Group. We have spent time looking at different formats for consultation to replace the group which was disbanded, and it is important that we have a solution which all fans feel can represent their views accurately. It is important that the group provides a forum for supporters to communicate directly with the club in a structured manner and helps the club better understand the issues that most affect and concern fans. We hope to announce details shortly regarding this, so please keep checking the website and social media channels as usual.

The BBC Price of Football survey was released last week, and produced some interesting results. Chief Executive Dave Boddy spoke to BBC Coventry and Warwickshire last Friday night to address some of the points raised, including about Match Day ticket pricing and Young Adult ticket pricing and our Season Ticket prices.

We are hoping to a successful end to this season, and everyone at the club knows the massive contribution the support of our fans contributes to this success.

Last week, we announced details of the Half Season Ticket package for this season. This compares well to the rest of League Two, and once again buying a Season Ticket is the best value way of supporting the team in the final 11 home games of the campaign, working out at £15 per game for adults in the Standard Zone area.
