League 2 : playoff winners
League 1 : 8th
League 1 : Champions
Championship : 16th
Championship : 6th/7th

This is the phenomenal job that's occurred at CCFC over 4 and a half years .

It's Horrible to lose , and we may well drop out the playoffs today .. But we're always improving and its mostly great to watch ,dont take it for granted ..PUSB

Believe in the process

Enjoy your Sunday

Mmmm

The one real achievement is winning league 1

it’s funny how the phrase “shows how far we have come” is used frequently

Well perhaps consider this. The season sisu marched into town last weeks opponents Bournemouth we’re on the brink of oblivion. They wee one game from liquidation and being relegated from the football league.

We were 6th in the championship

Forgive me if I’m not too ecstatic about gaining promotions and a Third rate trophy we wouldn’t even be in the hat for before the Cayman Island Crew showed up

Response As expected , mind you as somebody who admittedly only goes to home games , it's harder for you to grasp the sheer volume of the last 4 years .. from forest green steps back to our rightful level really ... you appreciate it that bit more

People also need to remember that being frustrated at poor decisions and performances doesn’t invalidate the pride we have in our recent revival.

If we won the Champions League final - playing Barca off the park in their own stadium - you'd still find something to moan about. Cheer up Grends - it's not all bad you know!

You're going to have to enlighten me as to the point then.

Apart from less than a handful of WUMs and weirdos nobody is calling for the manager or even getting close to.

The point is that people need to remember the job that's been done , and the job that's still being done , and not to let the old habits of believing we are something we are not seep back in

Ofcourse we can aspire to be more

Yes ofcourse , but maybe it's best to remind the minority , that their ambitions far outweigh reality

Grendel using Bournemouth, a club that's spent well over a hundred million in the last few years as an example being one

The same poster that's got it wrong every year since Robins returned

Great strategy - play at a few rubbish away grounds and then get back to an acceptable level and all is great

It's not an exclusive thing that we can't be annoyed about an our of form RWB playing CB over an actual CB because we won things previously.

It's weird.

At the start of the season I was looking for mid-table consolidation, and, despite our start to the season, where I think we have actually overachieved, I would still accept that. I don't get the weeping and wailing around the probability of slipping out of the play-off positions.

As for Grendels point about SISU and Bournemouth, yes things might have been different. I'm not going to defend the multiple misjudgements and mistakes that SISU have made. But they arrived because of the misjudgements and mistakes of previous owners. We might have got an owner like Bournemouth. we might have got well meaning owners like Bury who over stretched themselves and opened the door to less well meaning owners. We could have gone on the same trajectory as Derby. Who knows. But we are where we are, and we are still here.

The argument is if we should overspend and risk it or carry on as we are and hope for the best .

The first argument is what lead us down the rabbit hole to begin with

The reality is actually this:

Significant debt to the management company

Wonga Style interest ratws

In business terms a short term lease that has already declined by 10% by the end of this season

A fantasy football stadium which has been fantasised about for a decade

Owners that have a dispassionate view of the club and have to reward investors as number 1 priority

Owners who admit they will only live within their means - due to mind numbing incompetence which has led us to more relegations than the last 60 years - so will immediately sell players to fund anticipated losses if we do a Barnsley

Administrations

Failed attempts at ground ownership and no actual care if we were still playing away from the city

A model that by the chairman own admission is destined to fail at championship level

However - let’s tick a box. We don’t play Forest Green Rovers anymore

Why overspend - why not source investment? Whose paying for the new stadium - the tooth fairy?

Ofcourse the years where we did nothing of note but struggled with corrupt owners and mismanagement of debts were so much better because we managed to finish 17th in the top flight a few times.

We are what we are

But that investment would require return still ?

What happens when the investment risk fails ?

You will always get return on a stadium over the long period , it won't happen anyway

So Robins & his team have done exceptionally well to achieve within that framework which is the point the OP was making?

Yet you still want him sacking every season?

We finished 10th in the premier league a couple of seasons before relegation - we finished no lower than 12th under Sillet and finished 6th one season and 7th another scoring over 80 goals in the process

You'd be the same if we were in the top flight too tbh , you wouldn't be happy with 17th every year again .. if you supported Burnley you'd have demanded Dyche be sacked ages ago

I supported them since 1972 and from 1980 to 1990 went to nearly every game and it was all better than the last 5 years

Do you honestly think Burnley fans would enjoy a checkatrade trophy over staying every year in the Premier a league?

All better than the last 5 years ? Just not true at all .

Rose tinted nonsense, who enjoys watching perennial struggle ?
Maybe that's why you hate Robins because you miss the buzz of the struggle and elation of survival
