MR gave us some great times - Frank has started well you can see the difference in the confidence of the players from the terrible run we had after the Manure semi final - Grimes a good addition - just need three points off Stoke in a couple of weeks

Funny how he's gone very quiet recently.
Perhaps another victim of the Warwickshire hunt ?

Don’t compare them just enjoy Frankball while we have it and reminisce of Robins-taka from the season we won league 1

I'm surprised at the number of people on here citing Lampard doesn't want for money as a reason he wouldn't take another job with higher pay.

There are loads of people who don't want for money and could live comfortably for the rest of their days who will willingly debase themselves of someone throws a wad of cash at them.

The whole tenet of capitalism is that no matter how much you have you can always want more.

I'm not so sure.

Nearly 10 years ago Robins found out the grass isn't always greener on the other side. When he came back he stayed until pushed. Lampard has already previously got the push. He won't need the money as he earned more in a year than most people in a lifetime.

With us he has the chance of taking us from near the bottom of the Championship to the Prem. He has some very good players, a chairman that will back him and some of the best supporters backing him wherever we go. I can't see a top side coming in for him yet as he lacks the experience needed and is still unproven.

Would he leave us for a newly promoted side or a club in the bottom half of the Prem if we don't go up this season and they come in for him? I don't think so. Our club is turning into something special and you can see he is enjoying his time with us. Why risk it to take on a job where there will be a good chance of getting the sack.

I think he’d want to actually achieve something to have on his CV first. I think he’d have to get us promoted and not getting hammered week in week out in the PL before he got a better job. If we don’t go up and he leaves for a newly promoted side in the summer or shortly after, if it went wrong it’d be another failure in the PL for him.

What car did Mark Robins drive?

I, for some reason, just imagine Hans Moleman.

(Oh no, I just made my last payment...ohh....)

He doesn't strike me as a Bentley kind of guy, tbh.

Also probably still ok to use the present tense; I doubt King made him hand over the keys. "No, Mark, as well as everything else, you're walking home."

If I'm honest, I was just setting up the Simpsons bit that sort of backfired and I would like to bail out now.

Better luck next time. What a nice young man.

Stoke game will interesting on a number of levels.. Think it's a first for a manager with the success Robins had to come back to the club.
Also how will some of the players react, some I would guess will have point to prove ..Kitching, Simms, EMC, Dovin and Torp to some extent.

I dont think it was ever about this Question. I knew MR had had his time.

The only thing most fans and i mean reasonable fans are bitter or was bitter about was the way that it happened. Was wrong. Could have been done in a better way. He deserved better.

I would be interested to know how you sack someone in a nice way.
Some of us are a bit biased because of what MR had achieved, but in reality once the decision was made I'm not sure how it could have been handled better.

I think he's probably talking about the fans forum, when King seemed to be quite openly, blaming Robins for a lot of stuff.

Glad Robbins kept schtum, because it could have ended up as a bit of a mudslinging act.

Yes that was a strange thing to do. In a weird sort of way it helped us supporters understand what went on behind the scenes, enabled us to make some sense of why it all happened, because at the time there was a lot going on with Viveash which didn't make sense. (assuming it was all true). But it was a shame it happened that way.

Belief in himself.

Wouldn't think it would be one of the top clubs, anyway, but a Fulham, or Palace, or Brentford. I definitely think they would be interested.

I may be wrong though, but we just couldn't compete on salary and he's a London boy isn't he.

Time will tell.

I think an established well run Premiership club would be very tempting for him but he's some way off getting that kind of offer. We've put together a great run under difficult circumstances but that's all it is at this point - a run. He'd need to get us promoted and have a solid start next season for that sort of offer to become real.

Much like Robins, Lampard will get a lot of latitude from the ownership here that he may not get elsewhere. The type of stability and runway we have is something of a rarity. We all hope and pray Coventry doesn't regress into being a team that rotates managers every 18 months or sooner... that is so commonplace in the Champ and Premiership and given Frank's prior experience it's going to have to be a really high quality team with stable leadership to tempt him, probably only caveated if it's one of his ex-teams like West Ham or Chelsea.

The contract with us is short though - expiring end of 2027 season iirc - so if things are going well by then he'll be in high demand, for sure.

I hate commenting on such a stupid thread but here we are.

He must be on rotation. The watch he had when he was interviewed on his first day was worth tens of thousands.

That's before we mention his list of property.

Lucky boy!

Apparently MR was a bit of a stuck-up prick at times during his tenure - anybody shed any light on that?
