Although an excellent signing for us there will be some unhappy with the way he plays. He is a Lampard signing and loves to go forward, but like MVE he is quick and has a great engine. The perfect player for seeing out a game where needed.

Looking forward to him showing what he can do against Oxford. He is a class above the Championship and it will be like having an extra player on the pitch. There's no shame in being a bit player for a side 7th in the Prem.

I was pleasantly surprised by the comments from their supporters. Not a bad word against him or anyone happy to see him go. He just wants to play football and wants to win. Looks like our most important signing for many years. Personally think he is the best signing of any Championship side this window.

Carrying on the Shaun The Sheep/Frank The Tank theme for a song, what about ..

He's Frank The Tank, he's Frank The Tank
He'll chew you up and boot you to the stands
He's coming for you, he's in Sky Blue
Oh let's all wank to Frank The Tank

Last line still needs work.

The morning after deadline day, and I’m so glad this one happened and we now have Frank in the team. It’s given me a lift and I’m looking forward to the Oxford game now whereas I was starting to feeling a nervous about it.

Looks a great signing, but Im not sure he is going to singlehandedly transform our recent performances. Need coaching staff and players to up their performances massively. Confidence is everything though in this league.

I don’t think we need to change anything at home. But away there seems little point just putting him in and not changing the system. One player can’t do that much. Away I’d have him as part of a midfield 3

The usual slag off a player when he leaves your club. No surprise.

31 games for Augsburg in the Bundesliga last season and a solid AFCON since he played any real football for Brentford.

Brentford fans comments are misguided - we want him to do the horrible side - win duals, battle, cover ground, be athlectic - we don’t need him to be pretty on the ball - plenty to do that.

reminds me a little when we signed Carlton palmer to sit with Gary Mac - just get the ball and give it simple.

I'm sure his passing isnt that bad either.

They've only seen him in the Prem where theres greater physicality, less time on the ball and more intensity.

He is taking a step down to a level they haven't seen him at.

For a player who's "not very good," a lot of clubs were seemingly interested in him at the same time we were

I am delighted he's here and think he might be just what we need.

He will help.
However not sure he solves the stupidity of kitching and JDS of late….

in addition some basic tactical tweaking required.

Most definitely

Maybe Onyeka's arrival will enable those tweaks to happen with more ease

There's a massive difference between a side 7th in the Prem and playing for a place in Europe and a Championship side playing for promotion into the Prem.

He is going to be against players not as strong, quick or as skillful as he is used to. He is going to be able to drive us forward. He will make Hamer look very average. The big question is will Lampard use him to our advantage.

If Lampard sees him as just another attacking option it won't help our defence as much as we need. We already have too many players joining in with every attack and no caution given to the counter attack.

Onyeka will run his arse off for the full 90 minutes and make things happen. That's how he got the name Frank the Tank. Hamer struggles to last just 60 minutes these days and puts less effort in.

I can’t see Grimes being dropped so he either subs him on 70 odd for Onyeka or we go for a flat back 4 and a double pivot. Not sure Lamps has ever done that formation so probably not but for away games I’d try it.

rushy
MVE Thomas Wolf JDS
Grimes onyeka
Esse Rudi EMC or Yang
Wright or Simms

at home stick to 4-3-3 or the above if it works

So why is it odd? Hamer isn't the same player that left us for Sheffield United. Still a good player but what use is he when he can't last a full game?

Or are you trying to say we signed the wrong player?

He wouldn’t have played 30 or so games for a mid table Bundesliga team last year if he wasn’t a good player

I'd go with similar, but have Wright on the left and Simms up top...also be very tempted to drop Thomas for Lati.

agree, not hugely opposed to both getting dropped though, make them earn their shirt back and increase competition for places again

Lati done well when he’s come in. I’d like to see Wolfy get game time and KKH tbf. We’ve got to stick with JDS as Brau isn’t at it and Bidwell is past his best.

Very simple. The talk was about signing either Onyeka or Hamer. We got the better of the two of them.

So they are saying that he has a good engine but is not technically good enough for the Prem.

So we are signing him permanently if we go up .. to the Prem.

Bear in mind we need a team that will run , battle and help us survive should we go up .. brentford are a bloody good side

Better full stop.

Onyeka can pick out a pass just like Hamer. Onyeka is fitter, stronger and faster. Onyeka always gives 100%. Onyeka wins the ball in defence and then drives forward. Onyeka was the first signing that Brentford made when they got to the Prem and played a big part in them becoming established in the Prem.

Hamer?

Hamer is far better on the ball than Onyeka, he has a better eye for goal, better range of passing, more creative.

Lets not be silly. I was so close to agreeing with you as well.
