Has announced his retirement at 38. He has plans to move into coaching.
One of the greatest ever English players in my opinion.
And his goal and trophy statistics back that up.

There was a time when top players like that would drop down the divisions before they retired but now they seem to head for either the USA or China. Joe Cole was a rare exception, but only because he needed to get fit before going somewhere better.

Is he a magician? He would have to be owner/manager/player all in one.

It takes someone special to do that nowadays. The top players are all multi-millionaires; unless they truly love the game why would they bother?

To give something back to the game that gave them so much, but I guess we can't expect that nowadays.
