Wasn’t Lampard in charge of Chelsea for Ellis Simms’ only top flight goal?

King won't - ironically enough - look at his stats, just the name.

Was he even the permanent manager? Just an extended caretaker spell by the looks of it.

If Luton sacked Edwards and got Lampard would you be worried? I’d be thinking they could go down and they’ve made a mistake.

If it is him let’s hope he’s done some Brendan Rodgers soul searching (between Reading and Swansea) and become a better manager in his time out.

Tbf how many posters actually wanted robins out and lampard in?

I would imagine majority are sad robins gone but happy to give lampard a chance as successor considering we require one now

If I saw another Championship club sacking their long term manager to appoint Lampard I'd be laughing at it and saying they're going down.

The best we played in the championship IMO was the first real season back (RICHO + crowds).

Maatsen and Dabo holding the width, O'Hare and Hamer in the middle and mcfazden at the back (who was a better footballer than he got credit for) and of course Godden and Vic up top.

What a season that was to be honest. Loved the Fulham matches.

Wish we kept hold of Jodi Jones tho. Think there is a player there and he’s definitely showing it at Notts (granted much lower level)

I've voted no as I don't believe he'd deliver long term success.

However, I do think the academy would improve and also our stature in the footballing world. We'd probably be one of Sky's golden clubs being "Frank Lamaprd's Coventry City" so that can only help fill our coffers which is what's most important in today's game.

As much as I loved MR being with us, he wasn't a name that attracted media attention simply because he wasn't that kind of man. Even most Man U "fans" likely didn't know who he was, as with most PL fans.

Overall, I think it'll be short term til maybe this time next year, but we'd get an initial boost and access to better loan players out there (even though DK doesn't like that model which makes this appointment seem odd)

I’m sure there are better managers out there on the continent and maybe some of the less well known names like Bloomfield maybe good in the long run but for where we are I can see some logic in Lampard.

Im not expecting playoffs this season now but to push up the table and finish top half after our start and the dumping of Robins.

Next summer is going to be a rebuild; Sheaf, Hadji, MVE all likely to move on. Likes of Bidwell, Allen and Wilson out of contract. So we’re looking at some significant churn although possibly a Vik windfall.

Frank has contacts in the game and assuming he steadies the ship I’d expect us to build a decent team although think it would be a push to expect promotion.

18 months of Lampard whilst not spectacular maybe the best we can hope for at this point.

It’s Doug who I think is going to have to adjust his expectations. There’s always a team that comes out the blue to get promotion but if he really wants us up he’s going to have to put his hands in his pockets and pump some money in not rely on sell ons from our better players.

I think that’s a very interesting way of looking at it.

Which of the names on the list would I see going to Luton in that scenario and think “they’ve made a good appointment”?

Maybe Carsley or Eustace?

You think if lampard had been in charge the start of this season would he have been any worse than robins, I doubt it, we’ve been awful, that’s on the manager unfortunately
