Brainiest footballers reveal: Lampard's IQ among the world's top 0.5%| All Football

High IQs and intellect are not qualities usually attributed to professional footballers, with common stereotypes suggesting their talents lie in their feet rather than their brains.

I did say I'm not saying it means much as a manager in the post you quoted.

No that's fair enough mate, I'm not proposing that we get Roy Hodgson either, just because he's good at languages.

I think it's always worth pointing out that IQ isn't necessarily a measure of intelligence either, but it's a good indicator of how good you are at doing IQ tests...

I remember when Sillett was replaced with Terry Butcher. As a supposed big name….. that turned out to be a bad decision. Our football was dire under his leadership
There will be people who remember the club under Sillett & Curtis and people who were around for Hills reign, which began over 60 years ago now. But what I think some people are forgetting is that there's now more than one generation of fans for whom the only success they've known at the club came under Robins.

Between Butcher coming in and Robins first spell we had 14 managers in 22 years. Only 2 of those managed a win % of over 40, Black & Nillson, neither of whom reached the 50 game mark. Between Robins leaving and returning we had another 3 managers in 4 years, again with little success.

So without even considering nearly going out of business, Northampton, Birmingham, Wasps, the pitch debacle, transfer embargos and all the rest of it purely looking at the playing side for anyone under about 50 its been constant decline on the pitch apart from under Robins. In fact for a lot of kids they will have known nothing but Robins.

Hardly a surprise then that people are uncertain that someone can come in and achieve more.

It's because Nick is a big strong manly man who has neither emotions nor loyalty. He saw that Robins had been sacked, did a tiny fist pump and carried on stoically. Anyone who feels differently is a child or making things up to get mad about.

I don't get it

When times were shit , and they were terrible all we ever wanted was to experience good times .

We got almost everything we ever wanted barring some bad luck in a shootout

It's very strange to me ro disrespect somebody who gave you something nobody else could

It’s not disrespectful to question ‘well he would of turned it around, he always does’

Take the sentiment out of it, the performances this season considering the money that has been spent is not acceptable’ Throw in the digs at the players for not following instructions, the arguing at the end of the Preston game. Robins knew he was on thin ice.

Stoke set the tone of how this season was going, whether or not that’s Kings fault for “apparently” taking away all of Robins tools is another question.

The criticism of Lampard on this forum and X is ridiculous as people have criticized his record at Chelsea and Everton without putting it into context.

At Chelsea, in his first season as a manager in the Premier League he finished 4th, qualified for the Champions League, and reached the FA Cup Final.
During this time the club was under a transfer embargo.

At Everton, he saved a mess of a club from relegation.

During his second spell at Chelsea, he joined as caretaker manager in April 2023 for the last 11 games of the season and he inherited a team that had no confidence and half the squad either wanted to leave or had been told that they would have to leave.

CCFC has a mid table Championship budget and we are rumoured to be appointing a Head Coach who has experience of managing/coaching in the Championship, Premier League and Champions League. In my opinion, Lampard will be a very good Head Coach and the fans must get behind him and the team.

The link below give an insight into his tactics and style of play which have been relatively successful.
Frank Lampard: Coach Watch - Coaches' Voice

His Derby and Chelsea teams played attractive attacking football in 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 formations.
There was high intensity pressing
There was an emphasis on youth development

As a player, Lampard played under some of the best managers in the game such as Mourinho, Ancelotti, Benitez, Ranieri, Scolari and Hiddink
He was a Captain of his teams and a proven leader who will have the respect of the city players.

If he is to be the new Head Coach, lets all get behind him and support the team

Take the Derby game alone, Would you have accepted a performance like that for the remainder of the season?

How long is enough time?

Luton are more than likely about to sack Edwards after today’s result, he won the play off final. Harsh decision or the reality of football?

Well me personally I would have given him the season unless it looked hopeless

I think that January we could have plugged the gaps in the squad with what was missing and I think come March or April of things we're going well I'd have said to Robins you have to leave at the end of the season as I think it's time to try something new and he could have left the club properly and with dignity .

NO we wouldn't have gone down

So what is disrespectful about me saying Robins left us for a lucrative offer?

The irony is, I have never said anything against him as a person, just on the football stuff.

It's ok for people to go all in on all of the other staff though.
