People saying he achieved on par with expectations as if that's a bad thing...

We are UNDERACHIEVING. Robins was sacked for that. He wasn't sacked 'for' Lampard. Another phrase being used that's doing my head in. He was sacked, and if it's Lampard chosen to do the job then back him.

If he manages to 'perform to par' which I think most would say is playoffs, then I'd say surely that's a good thing?

Back the staff, back the players, back the club. If not willing to do the above, stop calling yourself a supporter. Look up the definition of the word.

Looking into it I’ll maintain that if Chelsea hadn’t had that batch of Covid throughout December, they would have still been in top four in January.

I know it’s a what if and all that but reading it seems the Fa were a bit heavy handed on Chelsea postponing games. Also while he didn’t win the champions league with that team, he did win his group.

As always I have my worries but the curiosity is there for me. Don’t think he should be written off too early

Like I said only looking at negatives

He achieved 4th with a transfer ban and promoted slot of youth due to this. There are positives too.

If you can't see both sides of coin after what I've said I really don't know what else to say

I think His managerial careers been poor, nothings going to change that. There's posts I put up in the Premier league thread saying the same thing from ages ago so this is nothing to do with him replacing Robins.

I honestly don't care, hes coming, I'll get behind him and hope things click for him and us but I just can't understand these attempts to make out his career has been decent.

Like I said earlier, if he was going to Leicester half the people bigging him up would be laughing about it.

Owners playthings, not necessarily on the managers wish list, interesting to see how many of those signings were sought by Frank Lampard , managing your own expectations is arguably easier than managing a ruthless owners.

Don't concern yourself with extreme pro lampard posters. Fact is he hasn't had a great career but there is potential there we have to have hope blossoms with us.

Not that im doing a good job ignoring the extreme anti king posters mind you

I think it's fair to say that frank had a good team at chelsea irrespective of the transfer ban . He also was massively outperformed by tuchel in the same season 38 points to 26 from the same number of games and tuchel didn't have a window .

Like i said I won't be invested emotionally in a manager again and they will be judged based off results only irrespective of underlying circumstances because fuck it why not

I personally wish we were not looking for a new manager/ coach.
I also don’t believe Robins told King to get rid of Vivash. In fact I believe little of what I heard from King the other Monday was completely true, just his muddled version.
I am sure Robins and Vivash, would both have a different story.
But now we are where we are,we as fans have no say in who the new guy will be.
We have no choice but to support the players, and get on with it.
When Robins picked his doctorate up,he congratulated you on what a good fan base you are.
Now it’s time to prove the man right.

I'd have preferred an up and coming manager but that would still have been a risk and would have required compo so I'm fine with Lampard, just think up until now he's been poor but hes hopefully picked up valuable experience along the way.

So you can pretend you think they’re worse?

People have given you loads of other options even though you know they aren’t professional scouts. Boring now. You think Lampard is a good manager. Most in and out of the club don’t.

Genuinely haven't spoken to one person who wants Lampard, at work, amongst my mates, family, at the match, at 5 a side.
That's still only a few dozen people out of tens of thousands that follow the club but its definitely very different in the world I inhabit to on here.

But, as I say, I've made my peace with it, good luck to him.

I think some of you are allowing your love of Robins to cloud your judgement.

Lampard is a young manager still learning. Should he have won the CL in his first season?

You seem to want a manager who’s won loads of things at the highest level. Well a manager like that is not going to be interested in us.

Our options are a young manager who is still learning, or an old has been that has managed a dozen championship clubs.

As for “finishing 4th is the minimum Chelsea should expect”. What do you think other clubs think of us? I was trying to explain to my Wolves supporting mate why Robins is so loved here. His response was promotion from leagues 1 & 2 should be a minimum requirement for a club like ours. We know it wasn’t a simple as that.

That's not the criticism. Its that it wasn't the huge achievement you and others are trying to make out. It was par for the squad he had. Since that season he has been in decline, sacked by Chelsea, took Everton from 16th in the league to 19th in the league and sacked as the second worst manager in their history, and then an abject caretaker stint where he got 1 win and 2 draws in 9 PL games, followed by sitting on his arse for 18 months.

Sorry if I don't want a manager on the decline, and would prefer someone with some relative recent success who's career is on the up.

We're basically saying that whilst we have spunked £40m on players, we can't afford to go and poach an up coming manager from another team and have to recruit someone who has been out of a job (following multiple) failures.

What I see in this post is you agreeing with those that you are disagreeing with.

A fair few of us are not going to join the happy clappers club for the potential Lampard has. We have reservations on if he is the right person for the job. We're also not saying Lampard would fail with us. The truth is nobody knows how it will go.

If Lampard is announced I hope he is given long enough to change things. Safety this season should be our first aim. Then next season is when he should be judged. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if those that are making things up to defend Lampard unnecessary are among the first to get on his back if results don't improve quickly.

No the criticism is he had the worst start ever to a Chelsea season, and after doing just OK in a bunker scenario as soon as he got access to it blew £200m to make them a mid table side and got sacked.

The only PL managers we are ever going to get are failures. Successful PL managers don’t drop to our level.

Everyone I’ve seen wants someone up and coming not in last chance saloon for their career.

No one is saying it was a great achievement. Just that it was decent for a young manager.

46 year old Frank Lampard has a far better record than 46 year old Mark Robins

I don't want to go back to the days of constantly changing managers.

He would need a decent swing of the bat. None of these players are his choice. Would they fit into the way he would like them to play?

If Lampard isn't given scope to improve the squad in January then he should be given longer. But if he is allowed to bring in the players he wants and still fails that's a different matter.

Nope. The minimum expectation at a club like Chelsea is champions league football. Lampard achieved that with them in the first season, but it was what the club would have expected. Had they not finished 4th they probably would have sacked him that summer
[/QUOTE]

Yeah, I think that's fair enough.

I don't think you can apply the same criteria in terms of where a team finishes, when you are talking about a side where 4th is the minimum requirement anyway.

We all know that it's a mini league at the top of the Premier anyway.

Oh, don't know what happened there. Part of Procdocs post has come up as if it's my reply.

Will edit it.

Robins took over a side about to be relegated. Promotions, Wembley trips and penalties away from getting to the Prem. The only time we didn't improve our league position in 7 seasons was when we had a small squad and were a toenail away from beating Manchester United at Wembley.

What has Lampard done?
