That pitch was a swamp that day.

I remember thinking we had no chance after that, especially when the rumours of McNulty being out injured went round at Notts C - the difference in fortunes of the 2 clubs since then has been incredible.

We got massively lucky that night. Was never a pen. Huge turning point in our history

We won the second leg 4-1 so not sure if really matters that much, we were the better team in the first leg anyway.

We also got lucky in the away game with their disallowed goal and our offsides.

Davies was also suspended for a stamp in the first leg, Willis came back from injury, won the header for Biamou goal and put one in top corner at Wembley

We were lucky in the second leg too.

I am not even sure we were the better team in the first leg.

Their shithousery approach nearly did for us in the first leg. By the time we started to play football in the 2nd leg they couldn’t live with us. The pen and Biamou’s overhead going in so early were killer blows for them.

City outplayed Notts County in second leg. The score reflects that. First leg was even.

They were in the ascendancy when their second goal was (wrongly) disallowed.

Agree, we were the better team in the second leg but were lucky with decisions. First leg was pretty even from my memory.

Listened to a podcast with Doyle through lockdown, said they got informed that Notts County had Wembley t-shirts printed in their dressing room ready to go for after the game, after that there was no way we were losing that game

It's a big leap to say that means we got lucky, we absolutely battered them bar a 15 minute spell in the second half and should have had more than 4 goals. You could argue that they were lucky we didn't.

I was in a box - the pen happened right in front of me I had to watch it again on TV. Was never a pen

I don't think our players even appealed for it did they? Ref was the only person in the ground who saw a pen there.

No denying that we were lucky. However it wasn’t all one way luck.
The post denied McNulty in the first leg and should have had a more blatant handball penalty at the end of the first leg (although from memory, we could’ve been offside).
The two calls we benefited from in the 2nd leg appeared correct live. It was only on replay you could see that we were luckier than Peter Crouch bagging Abbey Clancy

Always used to hate them, now have a soft spot for them after the away leg being one of the best nights at football ever, sad to see the level they are playing at now. It could have easily been us. Those fucking t-shirts though.....

I started going up around 92/93 season and it's probably my best CCFC memory ever.

The luck wasn't all our way though, I seem to remember one of their players raising his arms in a way that should have been 100% a sending off but the ref missed it.

Slightly disappointed that night. Crowd was smaller than what it should have been and the weather was awful.

Atmosphere was brilliant after our goal though.
