Seeing Gus trot out in the Premier League got me wondering what the best XI of currently active former Cov players would be. Any advances on the following:

GK: Schmeichel
CB: Doyle
CB: McNally
CB: Østigård
RWB: Jacob Murphy
LWB: Maatsen
CM: Hamer
CM: Maddison
CM: Henderson
ST: Gyökeres
ST: Wilson

Jack Stephens over McNally/Ostigard only change I’d make

But now we can make a much better side with Gyokeres and Hamer.

In that case it's the Shrewsbury starting XI

Its probably most of the current side plus Vik, Gus, Maddison and Wilson

Yes, captain of Southampton, Ostigard couldn’t get minutes at Stoke most recently when he was playing in England. Getting a minute at the end of Napoli matches to waste time won’t change my mind

Jones too, the way he's scoring.

No shame in not getting into Napoli’s starting 11 last season

McNally is a bit silly. Over his career Richard wood has proven championship credentials

Surely we’re doing what the best team is right now, i.e. if you had to field an XI for a match on Saturday. In that scenario Wood isn’t getting a look in.

If he's active scott Dann was a better centre half than ostigard has been upto today

What's the criteria here , still playing but over their career?? Dann is old now

Ostigard was way better than Stephens in a City shirt and is playing at a level Stephens could only dream of - But each to their own

Anyway, I’d like to propose the worst XI of currently active players:

Beavon - Ponticelli

Reid - Barton - Bigirimana - Vincenti

Camwell - Williams - Cameron - Hickman

Murphy

Beat that.

Jamar Loza randomly rocked up at my local non league club for a few games last season and even that was above his level.

I’ll swap you Burge for Murphy who I thought was fairly decent for us. Is Callum Ball still playing? I’d chuck him in there over Ponticelli, or German Nick.

Disappointed that Kevin Malaga and Jack Finch didn’t make an appearance too. Maybe stick them on the bench

It'd be quite easy to make a much worse team than that surely. Are you basing it on their careers or just their time with us?

Either way there's loads of players worse than some of those listed!

Ryan Alsop is one who has since us had a reasonable career

Very true. Was woeful for us. Was it his horrendous form which allowed Burge to get his foot in the door?

Does he still hold the club record for consecutive clean sheets?
