Didn't go to Wigan so can only go on what I've read here and reports from the game. 1st half believe we started 433, then switched to 4231 in second half. If reports are right then we enjoyed more success with the 433, than our original 4231. Anyone at Wigan game confirm this?
Would you like to see us use the 433 more often and next year with this being our main shape? This would maybe accommodate Gadzhev, vincelot and Rose together. 3 physical players with a bit of bite and a engine.
Or would you prefer natural wide players and a 442 big man little man combo that can cope with league 1 pitches in winter.
The 4231 worked when everyone was firing, movement was quick and slick. When the front 4 went off the boil that left us more often or not with 6 players camped in our own half with nothing to pass to and get in behind there fullbacks. Or teams compressed us so deep we could not open them up with sideways passing and static forward players.
Sensible discussion please

I wouldn't mind a 4-3-3 next season but not with those 3 in midfield. Think we need to add a goal scoring midfielder to that group. While we would also require two goal scoring wingers, and a striker which is able to link play, while also being fast and mobile enough to make the formation efficient.

I think if we were to go 4-3-3

RCC
Willis- NS-Martin-Stokes
---Gadzhev--Vince
-----------NS-------
Jones------NS--------NS

Maybe Ruben can be the more advanced of the CM's but i don't know if he would be box-box?
I like the formation but until I see which players are released at the end of the season, it is hard to decide which to prefer?

This this formation looks quite strong, not so worried about the lack of goals in midfield if the front 3 can keep scoring.
This TM should try it against millwall or Bradford.

Well Jones isn't going to be a big scorer next year. All 3 of those midfielder players do not have good scoring records.
So once again relying on 2 players to score all the goals in our season would be our undoing when they go off the boil.
Lorentzson also hasn't done enough to earn a new deal imo.

I do agree with you that a reliance on 1 or 2 goal scorers is not healthy but if the defence tightens up that will naturally pick up points.
Sadly to use Leicester as a example they only have had 2 main goal scorers all season in mahrez and vardy and had a tight defence and collected pts well.
I'm not optimistic in Jones goal return either. Lorenztson to me would make a useful attacking fullback but defensively I'm insure.

Doesn't that contradict what you say though? If lorentzson is poor defensively then the defence isn't going to tighten up is it?
I would also point out Mahrez and vardy are players in there prime.. I think once again we will be relying on premier league loans which will burn out which is why I talk about the reliance more. Plus Leicester have been surprisingly lucky with injuries haha
Also I would argue that on average teams concede 1 goal a game over the course of the season .. So would argue that we do need more than the two players yet again .

No just still unsure on Lorenztson, like to see him in more games to make a judgement on his defensive qualities. It's a concern for him tho how he's favoured Phillips for his defensive ability. Could be curtains for Lorenztson.
And yes they are players in there prime not young loanees away from there friends and family for the first time. If only we can get our own goal scorers then who knows.

If we can get our own players then sure, but I'm not holding my breath, unless George Thomas suddenly becomes the new callum Wilson? Haha

Went to Brum Leeds yesterday and was in the away end with the Leeds fans. Speaking to them, they complained about playing one up front, the striker being isolated, goals drying up, no support from midfield etc. Was like listening to our fans.. Lets just play 4 4 2, it works for Leicester City
