Yeah I think they were in on the rent strike weren't they? Then tried to beck out.

Can't remember 100% how it went so don't quote me on it.

I was impressed that the council stood up for itself when SISU were as the high court judge stated trying to drive the value of ACL down.
It took a lot of balls for the council not to be be bullied and when the council stood up for itself.
That's when asISU should have realised they had pushed too far abd either put in a sensible offer or signed up long term on a tent deal.
Unfortunately the likes of yourself kept encouraging them to keep pushing further and further.
Which was ajaays only going to go one way
Why did it take balls? The council is a huge organisation with c£200m budget, 6-7k employees, a huge legal team and chief exec on £230k pa. They aren't some small business.

Yeah to drive down the value of the bank loan. Not surprisingly this is rarely mentioned or remembered.

I think he believes the council is full of upstanding citizens with good morals and strong principles. The sort of people who wouldn't accept gifts that could be viewed as a bribe. Oh wait....

Ahh but they are City fans. They just want the posion that is SISU away from their club. No matter the cost. Short term pain for long term gain. It would be worth dropping to the Conference to rid us of these parasites.

That is what people say. You know like begging the local council not to sell the Ricoh to them as they would mortgage it. Yet applaud Wasps for their business acumen in doing the same thing. It really is incredible.

If we didn't have CCFC fans attending there matches it might send out a message? If people didn't buy the Telegraph it might send out a message? If Wasps are given bad press? If the council are challenged? If CCFC fans attended games and put more money in the budget? You know, not refusing to go because of the owners. I said before I don't buy the whole I have a season ticket I'm a better fan stuff, but refusing to go because of the owners is a bit counter productive. We know SISU are not taking money out. OSB looks and advises us of this and he can't be accused of backing the clubs owners, the opposite if anything.

What did the original 2014 High Court judgment say?
Among the judge’s key findings was that the crisis at ACL had been triggered by Sisu refusing to pay rent £1.3m annual rent. He added the withdrawal of rent was a deliberate strategy by Sisu to “distress ACL’s financial position, with a view to driving down the value of ACL and thus the price of a share in it, which they coveted.”

Yep, totally agree.

The reality is though it is not going to happen. I don't understand why any Coventry City fan would go and watch Wasps and if local people love rugby I feel they should go and support their own local team in Cov Rugby club.

Look at the petition for the academy! Embarrassing numbers. No meaningful protest is going to ever happen, unless CCFC move us again for a ground share.

I honestly don't think there is anything we can do past trying to get bums on seats here and try and promote Cov as much as possible.

Not trying to spin anything, I loath rugby and had never heard of Wasps
Until they moved in, I don't live in Coventry so the council don't concern
My everyday life.
I've followed CCFC for over 40 years ,passed down from my father before
Me, it depresses me how our owners have contrived to get us to the point

If the Council wanted to drive the value up why did it not issue a 250 year lease in 2014?

The judge said that the club unilaterally decided to withhold the rent. The evidence given said ACL were asked to agree to a rent holiday but didn't give permission. The bit where SISU and the Council joined forces was when they were using the fact there was a rent strike to offer a reduced loan repayment to Yorkshire bank.

Hang on, the higgs was built in part specifically our academy, and bar one year we have been based there paying rent since it was opened.

In fact as now reported, having the academy there was instrumental in getting planning permission for building higgs on greenbelt land in the first place.

Not sure about driving it up
I think they just stood up to SISU when it looked like the value was was potentially going to be driven down to nothing.

Leaving a charity and the council with nothing

No what I am getting at is that if they were so interested in ACL being successful thru would have offered ACL a 250 year lease before they considered selling. This would have driven up the value considerably.

They could have done it when CCFC were still playing there or before wasps started to bid.

They didn't - also when they agreed to sell their half for the price agreed that set the value of the Higgs share.

The council weren't bothered about the charity at all - or they'd have extended the lease.

I think it was SISU claiming that in the appeal
However the appeal judges who heard that allegation from SISU, which I think I recall was a key party of their aopeal ruled in favour of the original judgement. So they didn't agree with it.
So no blindness

The council have legal departments to deal with judicial reviews.

The ethics hearing was a charade which took a day.

The rest is ACL business not the council.

That they along with SISU thought withholding the rent would be good as it would reduce the value of the YB loan.

According to the info that came out in the court minutes, Fisher had a meeting with ACL and suggested a road map which included a rent holiday, ACL then phoned and wrote to him a couple of days later saying they didn't accept a rent holiday. The judge decided that the club unilaterally decided to withhold the rent.

You say stood up for themselves and call SISU bullies. Yet then claim it's nothing to do with morals? You think SISU are nasty bullies? The baddies to the councils goodies? So how was my post incorrect?
