went to wasps game saturday

now hear me out lol. my little nephew for free ticket from school and was desperate to go as all his mates were. his dad was working so couldnt take him. he phoned and asked me to take him and i said no and his disapointment was heartbreaking! after a few hours i rang him back and said ok cos family is priority

anyway it was free schools ticket, said £0.00 so i didnt cotnribute any money towards them and didnt buy a drink either(althoguh it was tempting)

anywhoo reason i post is because of a few observations

*rugby is a truly boring sport
*the atmosphere is very kiddy and familyish, i mean a choir under scoreboards compared to singers corner lads lol
*half the fans dont even watch the game
*drum band is annoying

ok so thats all good, ccfc clearly has nothing to learn ont he pitch

BUT

their kids zone was freaking impressive! set up in jaguar hall they have indoor rugby pitch(and somehow no injuries!) a penalty kick section(i put one right down middle) a tug of war game,a tackling game, kids club sign ups etc

plus a live band al wearing wasps kit and 3 bars for men to watch big screen rugby ont elly

i gotta admit this was impressive and left me envious. this is what ccfc should be doing, securing fans of the future whilst also making football better for families(alot of women in kidz zone after with their kids)
would be nice after a win if perhaps everyone didnt go home and instead let their kids have some fun whilst they enjoyed a pint

on flip side footy atmosphere is hostile and many fans cannot handle drink so security may be required even in a kids zone but i think its something the club should look into even if they dont own ricoh. i havnt seen out current kids zone, anyone know what they do there?

all i know is my nephew said wasp games are more fun than ccfc games aint they? after i slapped him silly i realised why he may have said that though. we need tos tep up our game!

nick if you could refrain from moving this thread to wasps board for a few hours,as it is aimed at ccfc fans to see how we can improve matchday experience.

The JSB people do put on stuff before the games... Granted it isn't in the Jaguar Hall but people seem to forget about it

They have crafts, Fifa on PS, Table football, air hockey, keepy uppy competitions, girl who does tattoos, raffles and tombola type things. The last few weeks they have been handing out free chocolate bars too Also the competition to go by the dugout to meet the players for the kids every week.

Then you have the JSB Christmas Party and other events....

To be honest the game was awful.
Newcastle just slowed it up so much it was annoying.

Surely you know if you are commenting on how it needs to be upped

The volunteers do an amazing job. They make it great for the kids.

I went the JSB party this year and it was spot on. The whole team was there. Santa, a reindeer, shootout competition. JSB's receive personalised letter from Mowbray. It's great. Just not given the coverage it deserves. No surprise there really.

Shut up, you wouldn't do shit.

Surely if you are saying what CCFC need to do, you already know what they do?

It annoys me how much credit the JSB volunteers etc don't get, yet people get wet over Wasps.

On another note, how many of the kids that enjoyed it had paid for a ticket? How many pestered their parents to buy them a Wasps ticket? How many associate Wasps with Coventry?

Exactly, people ignore that when going on things Wasps do.

nick you seem to be doing some serious twisting here

all i have said was that i was seriously impressed with the kids zone

i pointed out that they dont wven watch game yet you are talking about naming players as if it undoes my entire post

you have got defensive over this and its weird............but funny

maybe ccfc already doing a cracking job and i am mistaken, thats great if so ,but i have never heard parents talk about it yet i was told by 2 or 3 to make sure i visited kids zone with my nephew before i went home after game.

i think everyone can agree that if improvements can possibly be made it would be good to do so. not at any point of the original post is it made out that wasps are amazing and ccfc are bad

Nick, I went near the JSB area last game (I think). Lots of paste table etc set up? Kids seemed to be enjoying it, but you cannot compare that with the pictures shown here, surely?

You said this...

I get defensive because I see how hard the JSB volunteers do first hand to make things good for the kids and get hardly any credit for it.

Well yes, you can't compare it to a couple of the big inflatables. The kids still enjoy it non the less which is what it is about isn't it?

I don't think there would be time to set all that up on Matchdays with the window of being in the ground, when they are specific JSB events they have all of that sort of stuff and more....

And I quite clearly said I don't know much about current activities and asked for more info from those that do. But you sre not forthcoming with info you just want to take digs. If you didn't own site I would alert this and you woukd be banned.

Lewys you sre right. Do we have access to hall? And is it worth it money wise if we could get it?

Was just putting it out there for discussion

very good

i guess it comes down to owning the stadium then

we could do things on such a bigger scale if council didnt screw us over

1 thing that cant be changes is football much bigger sport than rugby so we should always have new fans coming in...i hope

A lot of kids (and parents) get free tickets.
Most kids go for the hall initially and put up with the rugby.
But the catch is that it becomes a good afternoon out for the family (possibly not the rugby)
Getting free tickets every week is difficult and so the parent has to make a decision.
As the kids go free anyway and the cheaper adult tickets are only £15 its almost a no brainer.

Eventually the kids get into Rugby and the plan has worked

IMHO

Out of interest is your nephew not a JSB? You would then know more about what was on offer. The worst thing to happen to this club is Wasps and the worst thing to happen to the City as a whole is Ann Lucas. The quicker they both fall off the face of the earth the better!

You keep banging that drum Italia. The number of people listening is dwindling as quick as the Wasps attendances

I believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to

Something like that anyways

What about the passion? When the Wasps player comes out does anybody know who they are?

Is it the same as 100 kids following Adam Armstrong about? Or hearing a kid say "Theres Joe Cole" and kids running to see him?

Well worth signing him up if he isn't. If he is under 12 it's free for him to go to games.
