I se they've only been given 1100. Is this COVID related as I'm sure they'd sell a lot more (despite it being on Sky) given it's the first away game in 18 months. Are we missing vital ticket sales here?

It’s an initial allocation, it’s always been the same. The away club request how many tickets they want at a time.

I'd be surprised if Forest sell any more than 2k

I believe if Forest requested 3k or 6k and didn’t sell them all, they’d have to cover the costs. A club like us would only request big allocations this season for WBA and Blues probably

If you check their website they have 1800 tickets, not 1100

well you got 9800 season ticket holders so youve beat it already! 6k for wolves friendly is more than i expected to be honest, week before forest game its better to save your £10 for your forest ticket unless you are ST holder, im only going becuase its a free ticket from leamington friendly.

Forest have sold 2500 away memberships (sold out )

I highly doubt they will struggle to bring 2k to coventry in 2021

Wolves have sold their allocation for Sunday, probably 1,800 what we gave Forest? If that’s right then we’ve sold just over 4k home

The away membership just gives you priority for the away games you do want to go to, it's not a commitment of any kind. There will be midweek away games this season where Forest will only take 500 or so.

The 1800 tickets went on sale to these members yesterday and there are still tickets left. I'm sure they'll reach this milestone and shift a few more on general sale - but 4K- 5K as some are suggesting, no chance for a televised game at those prices.

Forest will easily sell 4 or 5 if given the allocation.

I’m concerned how slow our sales are…. Just wish people would get up there and support the club. Still hearing the same reasons…. We are a huge City and it baffles me we can’t get 10% of the population to turn out.

Because most cities don't get 10% of the population turning out? Do they?

you'd be hard pushed to find too many, unless you chop off all the surrounding areas which are basically part of the cities

Afternoon all, Forest fan here. All our initial allocation was snapped up very quickly, before season ticket holders even had a chance - I fully expect the next allocation of 2,000 to be sold. With it being the first game many fans have had the opportunity to attend in 18 months I think we could maybe get to 4.5k sold!

Anyway quick question around transport post match from the ground, what's the easiest way back to the main Coventry station? Is it worth booking a taxi, or will there be additional trains heading back to the City centre station?

Cheers, and good luck for the season!

Good question, but it imagine a lot clubs in the top 2 tiers certainly do. If you looked at attendances compared to the town/city population.

Leicester, Derby, Sunderland, Forest (when considering two club status), Ipswich, Norwich, Middlesbrough and Watford are those of the top of my head that would be close to, or over 10%.

The more you look at the clubs above and compare their crowds to ours, it becomes a bit embarrassing.

Meanwhile in Leicester they are extending their stadium to 40k this year.

Not sure there are any trains running as too many people for a small platform - there are buses full of Cov fans - taxi would be best there and back

Been a while since we played there ourselves lol. There were trains every hour on matchdays but that was with crowds under 10k in leagues 1 and 2. With 20k plus it will probably be a nightmare

Train is doable, particularly if you wait for the second one after the game and go for a pint in the casino.

The ticket sales from our end are currently a little underwhelming. I thought the club would have been pushing this hard. They've pushed the Wolves game more!

Welcome. Might be easier getting to Bedworth Station if you can? Have a few in the Casino afterwards and let the traffic clear, you'll be sound. Hope you have a shit day out

That's such a crude way of looking at it, they are pointless comparisons because the catchment areas for many clubs extends way beyond the city or town boundary, some clubs have a much bigger regional pull than we do, Norwich sit alone representing the whole of Norfolk.

Which boundary are you using, City, metro, local authority, conurbation? The true population of Leeds is 800K, shouldn't they be getting 80,000 every week and not less than half that?

It's all meaningless tbh.

You're totally right. It's like asking why Wimbledon only get crowds of 5k when in theory they are the only club in South West London. Or why Gillingham don't get more as the only real club in their county.

However, Coventry ticks the boxes of being a large city and a huge catchment area and our crowds are still poor.

The reality of the situation is we’re the 5th biggest club in the West Midlands and the 8th biggest club in the Midlands as a whole. We have a lot of competition and Coventry has never been a big footballing city. We might have south Warwickshire to ourselves but again, not a traditional football mad region.

In answer to why we might not have sold as many forest tickets yet - I'll be buying four, but waiting for my jsb memberships to arrive before buying.
Hope they are here early next week, then I'll get our tickets.
....might not be many people, but a few could be waiting for similar?

Tin pot club aren’t we. Wolves 1800 for an away friendly and we can’t sell 5000. Not surprised sales are poor for forest home game. No football for 18 months, new signings to watch, championship football.

Actually thinking about it what the hell

I'd say we're comfortably as big as Birmingham right now, both in trophies won and supporters

If you take out the time spent at Northampton & St Andrews, our crowds since year dot stand up very well against all the others apart from Villa, considering we're a long way back from all of them in terms of trophies (apart from Birmingham & Stoke). Derby is a proper football city and they've won league titles, but across our history there is only about 1,000 between us & them even including Northampton, L2 and St Andrews- its very hard to judge what is a football city & what isn't. Same with Forest- titles & European cups- just over 1,000 apart

This sort of thing fluctuates all the time anyway- for years we were miles bigger than Wolves, Birmingham, WBA- all depends how we're doing in the leagues. There's only really Villa that have remained untouchable as the Midlands' biggest club, the rest of the time we've all had our ups & downs. We're not the small fry of the midlands, and hopefully on the up again.

Yeah I’m not really motivated to get up to the Wolves friendly and don’t think I’ll bother. Almost feel like it will take the edge off the Forest game, which I cannot bloody wait for. One extra ST this year too for my daughters inaugural season.
