just watching the football league show, and their bit at Molinyeux, shows a 1950s kicking block in the changing rooms.

my question is, what is the point in them and why would you have one?

I'm with you, I've never heard of it in football before. You'd just smash your toes to pieces.

To kick your boots into shape before the game. As they used to be leather and had probably shrunk when washed in the week and also to get rid of mud from the boots.

Remember the time we all got on the pitch and stopped the game at Wolves ?
But a load of us tried to storm there boozer the Molineux which was a silly move as we got a bit of a hiding !
Crazy days but we were young and got carried away with it all madness looking back but hey still here in one piece.

What makes me laugh, is when similar things happen now, people are quick to dismiss it as "the youth of today" and blatant hooliganism. Yet in the hey day, it was the norm lol

Looking back it was bad and at times very dangerous but it was the fight or flight thing ?
But there is a myth over those times where all fans who scrapped were not football fans,as anybody who was there then loved the game but wouldn't let opposition supporters take your end. It was tribal and a bit childish !
