We've won something!

The Sky Blues receive Family Excellence Award after a record number of attendances in the matchday Family Zone...Coventry City are proud to receive ‘The Football League Family Excellence Award’ for the 2015/16 season.

Created in 2007, the Award recognises the outstanding experience provided by clubs for young fans and families as part of a scheme that won the Gold Award at the European Professional Football Leagues’ Best Practice Awards.

Well done to everyone involved.

Well deserved, still think things like this point out how good the volunteers are and hope the club look after them!

You can't really argue at all with the JSB Season Ticket for £25 and all the extras etc.

I hope this thread doesn't get ignored, as they deserve credit!

Well done to all, especially Pat Raybould and her team of volunteers. I have never thought that their work gets enough recognition or support (including from the club itself) so its good to see them and the club get this award

Agree with that.

It is all well and good people going on about it not being full of inflatables etc for the kids, but the way the volunteers are with the kids is fantastic! It isn't just "older" people either, there are young lads who give up their time to make the matches enjoyable for the kids.

Really hope the club do something for them, I'd give them free season tickets or a free coat or something. The cost to the club wouldn't be much for those 5-10 seats surely compared to what they do for the club?

Well done to all involved. You only ever hear good things about the volunteers in the family zone. It's nice that they get some recognition for that from outside the club.

Excellent news. The volunteers are always friendly and great with the kids in all the activities. It is certainly growing in popularity with young supporters; this season we didn't win the draw to go pitch side during the warm up. Pat is always busily encouraging the JSBs to join in and talk to the current and legend players who turn up. And she and the other volunteers always have time for the parents.
I would like to see the club giving them a greater resource as I'm sure there are other things they would love to do with the youngsters.
So if any of the volunteers are on this forum...Thank you all for your time and effort over the season. It is appreciated by the JSBs and the parents.

I have also asked a few times about if there is a way to donate to them online etc.

I never tend to take cash, and I am not sure about sticking a tenner in a pot that somebody could walk by and take

If anybody works somewhere where they can donate prizes, craft materials or anything. I am sure if they could donate something they could have their logo or sign up in return for a game. (I don't know 100%, but the amount of pens and wooden craft materials they must get through must be massive!!)

You would have to say that the JSB/Family area has been the single consistent shining light in the deep dark mire that has been CCFC for many years

MBE for Pat - why not

Anybody want to run the odds on it being in the Telegraph?

Hey all!

Whilst i can't class myself as a full time volunteer, I do know who they are and know the positive comments will be gratefully recieved!

Pat was previously a nominee for 'fan of the year' Nick, yes, and more recently was nominated for one of the 'Pride Of Coventry' awards. Unfortunately she couldn't attend the latter awards evening though since we had a home game. Priorities

If either Pat or the club know of a way that fans can contribute, donations would never be declined and I can assure you would be put to good use, I will let you know on here. Also, im sure they would welcome any comments or suggestions about what kids would like to see in the zone that's not been there before. Or maybe it has and it's no longer there. Realistic of course!

The team are regularly looking at new things to change what the zone does!

The more publicity it gets, the better!

Thanks again for the nice comments!

Still nothing in the Telegraph

Just shows things like this, people aren't bothered about.

not wishing to detract from the excellent work that Pat etc do but this is like a quality standard not a best in class award. Something like 40 other clubs also won it this year too

http://www.football-league.co.uk/ne...cellence-award-winners-announced-3096917.aspx

The family zone still remains one of the positives at our club in my eyes though

It would be nice for the local paper to acknowledge it though wouldn't it, for the esteem of those involved as much as the club

It turns out it was!

Have to find it underneath happy birthday kilcline and all the other important stuff!

It should be great news with a nice article, rewarding for the people who give their matchdays up!

In fairness I've spoke with AT who has complimented their work so whilst it might not be headline news, they do acknowledge the work put in

I just think the volunteers deserve more, not even so much about the club. Just the individuals who give up their team to make matchdays better for kids. (Thats not just more from the Telegraph either).

For those asking, advice is for anyone wanting to make any donations to support the FZ, you can send a cheque to the club, marking them for the attention of the FZ (or Mark Hornby as a named person as he is the clubs point of contact). Cheques payable to CCFC (family Zone). Not aware of any other payment methods available at this point.
