Tim Fisher On Appointing A New ManagerCoventry City Chairman Tim Fisher has said that the Sky Blues will be appointing a new manager well before the season ends.
The Sky Blues have placed Neil MacFarlane and Dave Hockday, who, Mr Fisher said in a conference call to members of the Coventry City Supporters Consultative Group, 'was employed to bring football league experience to the managerial team and as U21 development manager, to bridge the gap between the academy and the first team', in charge and that the club's stated aim was to appoint a new manager well before the end of the season.
Mr Fisher also said that the dismissal of Steven Pressley would not be affecting the monthly cash flow as it had been factored in.

Coached 7 years at Watford and 2 years at Southampton between 2000-2009 before he became a non league manager. Also included very short spells coaching at MK Dons, Cheltenham and Leicester

I don't buy the fact that we have the top six budget in L1. If Fisher say's it then it must be true.

so we have one of the biggest SCMP budgets in L1 but one of the smallest turnovers ........ remind again how SCMP is calculated. Waggott said this morning that the player budget was originally 2.6m but had been increased from that.

Average player cost £125k pa ? really? that's 2400pw in L1 ....... assuming that the youngsters wont be on anything like that and the loans are not an annual charge but for shorter period that must mean in a squad of 30 there are 10 or so players earning frankly too much for what they are producing

Coventry City had had notched-up only one league win this calendar year despite the fact that we had a top 6 budget in League One, we paid upper quartile wages (average £125k vs the highest average at £196K and the lowest at £46k average) but we were in the bottom four in the league.

Interesting that the budget is really all the fault of the fans not supporting their team ......... couldn't be anything to do with the actions of Fisher/Waggott or SISU or the dire product the club puts out :facepalm::thinking about:

Under the SCMP rules, the definition of 'Turnover' is particularly important as Turnover is used to determine the maximum wage-spend. Within a traditional accounting perspective, there are usually only three elements of turnover:

Match-day Income

Commercial Income (such as sponsorship)

TV revenue (and any 'merit payments' based on league position)

However the Football League use a is broader definition of Turnover. Crucially, the FL Turnover figure includes donations from the owners to the club and injections of equity. Loans from club owners are understandably not included in the Turnover figure as these would result in growing club debts. up club debts. In League 1 and League 2, a wealthy owner can therefore fund the club spending in a way that is not permitted in other divisions. Manchester City and Leicester for example seem set for punishment for their excessive losses (from UEFA and the Championship respectively) despite the fact that the owners have injected hard cash into the club to finance the spending.

Profit on player sales
Any profit made on player sales is included withinTurnover on a cash basis when the instalments are received.

In relation to the highlighted comment OSB - I know for a fact 100% true Burton Albion's highest paid player is on 2K P/W but he dropped down from league one in the summer... they also have a player on loan on 1,700 P/w but they are on loan from a premier league side and pay a percentage of the wages, so it might be possible some are on 2.4k PW at the club.

I think a free season ticket comes with most jobs at the club still I guess it boosts the numbers! Yes it must be a bik but I am sure he can pay a little bit of tax on his massive salary.

I think that you could probably make the case that as the CEO you need to be able to watch the team perform to complete your duties properly - ditto manager, coach etc.

As above, whether you could rightfully describe watching CCFC as a benefit anyway is debateable; has anyone applied for a tax rebate on their season ticket yet? If I had one I'd be tempted to claim it as a charitable donation.

He's not questioning that we have players being paid 2.4k a week, he's questioning that being our average especially when you remember that average is brought down significantly by the kids meaning the amount we are paying the rest of the squad is significantly higher. Either we are seriously overpaying for most of our squad or Fisher isn't telling the truth (again).

He is the chairman looking for land to purchase his new ground though and he is not performing well in that and if he has any involvement in the other part of the club that is failing as well so his watching isn't working as they aren't learning anything.

This all a bit tongue in cheek really but it is easy for him to say come and watch the team.

I have friends who get free tickets every week and have for ages and that does really piss me off.

The club sits in it's lowest position for 50 years, We have lost our ground to a franchise rugby team, ticket prices are not good value, there is no merchandise to improve income, no marketing, few players that care about our demise, stadium whenever still spouted and a host of pointless court cases still to fund and with that hanging In the air Tim Fisher states the obvious that the club needs more fans and expects them to come trotting meekly from all areas of the Midlands cash in hand.

So Fisher thinks the finances are being hampered by low attendances? Wait till next season, pal. If we stay up, maybe 5-6000. If we are relegated, 3-4000. Things can only improve when we have some new owners willing to invest in the team rather than days in court. Until then, it's just a race to the bottom.
