And how tactically aware is Shaw?

Has been in place since the start of the season but things have not changed. Did he help defensively?

We want and we need experience. Having another inexperienced manager is not a good idea. Who here thinks it would be a good idea to have an inexperienced manager again?

I mean i want a manager with experience, there are plenty young ones in the lower leagues. I don't think we are in a position to give the job to someone with zero experience.

Football does exist below League 2.

Even just at football league clubs there's Tisdale, Davis, Holdsworth, Abbott, Yates just to name a few.

All have experience at league 1/2 level and are up and coming. If we'd stump up the compensation then at least one of those would jump at the chance to manage here.

It doesn't matter whether they are experienced or not; there is just no way of telling how a manager will do, especially at this level. The one advantage to experienced managers is that they provide clearer reasons for not making a shortlist (e.g. Megson - unattractive football to upset the fans; Davies - always badgering boards in public).

I think you need to think of the circumstances more when deciding who should be our next manager.

SISU have gambled in a way that the drop would be a blessing in disguise of sorts. They have reduced (and are reducing) their overheads, backing the building of a stronger squad at this level and looking for immediate promotion as the saviour of this football club. If they fail to have a well backed successful season (at least the play offs) the club may fold.

That's why they acted swiftly when all could see Thorn's methods were never going to acheive the high target expected.

Now with this in mind do you change your opinion on what kind of manager they should now put in place who after all will have the resonsability of all the above riding on his shoulders?

Yep experience is number 1. So this time no trainees, no lower league success stories untried at clubs as big as Coventry. this calls for someone with some credentials at the very least.

I've already suggested a few and we do never the less have to be realistic but those names start to roll off the tongue for me...

Curbishley, Davies and a handful of others. No emotional expressions please like Dublin and the like. This has become far too serious and critcal to the clubs surviavl now. SISU know it and will surely look towards spending some decent cash on the right guy.

Those with "credentials" tend to have jobs in the Premiership or with upper Championship clubs. The unemployed among them have earned the right to - and expect - substantial transfer budgets and payroll to work with.

Fisher took pride in saying that the club is among the top two for payroll this season; it is difficult to see additional bags of money being made available. And on that basis, it's hard to see a manager with a successful history coming here.

Sorry but I fail to see where you can form this opinion as opposed to mine. That's the beauty and at the same time difficulty of what can be expected with the final appointment isn't it? There are such total differences of opinion.

One thing I have noticed though on this board colectively is how supporters under rate CCFC and their perception for one of downgraded small time no hopers? perhaps it is just me who has maybe one of the older heads on here and relates to 34 years of top flight football long before we became a disgrace for 10 years in the chanmpionship. This club is more attractive to managers than just about anyone else bar a handful outside the premier league. That IS a massive factor.

Oh sure, to some extent. Most managers in L1, L2, the non-leagues would jump ship to call the Ricoh their home, as would a lot of washed-up managers. The issue here is about those managers with some career capital, and I don't think there's much evidence to suggest that those types are prepared to risk it on clubs which are both lower league and tight on cash.
