Can't help but be embarrassed firs half last night. Completely the wrong tactics didn't give us a chance. Fans with half and half scarves / having to protest because we don't play in our city.

Second half much better

We were a bit star-struck, and I agree about the half and half scarves, but at no point did I feel embarrassed last night. Actually felt proud on and off the pitch.

Hard to embarrass yourself against probably the best passing and possession team in the entire Premiership.

Arsenal should have been well clear, but they weren't. How embarrassing.

Not embarrassed no. Shame about first half tactics but still proud of manager, players and fans.

They're top of the Premier League playing a near full strength squad and you're embarrassed by our showing in the first half?

Unbelievable.

They faded in the last 10 minutes after playing a deeper press. Had we played our normal game we would have faded a lot earlier. The main problem in the 1st half is that our forwards didn't look after the ball well enough.

I spent 20 years going to lop flight games away with us being able to compete.

Going last night and not being able too with fans treating it as just a day out, and having to protest at wanting to just play in coventry was embarrassing for me .... Yes.

Nothing against the players or manager

We faded because we'd spent 45 minutes chasing shadows. If we'd pressed higher we'd have spent more time with ball.

Would CW have made the difference ,was a bit of a risk given that the players could'nt adapt the last time we tried It,but like suggested would have faded earlier ,may have retained It better though ??

Cant see peoples problems with the scarves , they are just mementos the same as the programme or a match badge.

Embarrassed ? Our cobbled together, seriously young and inexperienced bargain basement squad against top of the Premier League at their place ? The subs told a story - they bought on Giroud / Corzola and we bought on Jordan Clarke as a centre forward !!

Are you being serious?

We are a 3rd division club. We played with academy lads. We were playing against world class players. Some of them are worth more than SISU would accept to sell up. I watched the game with a Gooner. He said that we played better than a lot of Prem sides have against them this season. Did you expect us to attack them all game?

For the first time in ages I am proud of my football club. I hope that this will give them more belief in themselves and we have a great second half of the season.

Arsenal showed us a lot of respect, they picked a strong team, and they were at it from the first whistle, first 30 minutes we were chasing shadows, credit to our lads for hanging in and improving , Thomas and Fleck got better and better as the game went on against a top class midfield .

Speedie - how the memory fades with time - I also went to many top flight away games - including old trafford/anfield etc - some of those games we did not manage a shot all game

At least last night - we did try to attack the opposition
Baker/Daniels/Clarke x 3 + numerous times Christie and moussa got into good positions

and the standard of the opposition is also much better than the premiership teams when we were there

I watched the match at my local with a bunch of mates(none of them City fans) and they where all very complementary about our style of play and the effort we put in. And trust me it's generally very difficult to get that from these guys(West Ham, Leeds, Liverpool and Wolves fans)

I'm VERY proud of my team for last nights performance.... :claping hands:

This serious, yeah? Just because we were once a top flight club doesn't mean that when we play one now we're suddenly going to play like a premiership team! We are where we are for a reason and last night was no embarrassment.

Half arsenal half cov

I accept I'm in the minority on this one but I go to games like this and can't help but just see how far we have fallen. I can't and won't ever except seeing us as a lge one team playing outside coventry.

You may see that as a bad thing and I need to let it go, I see it as a good thing.

Great post.
Was chatting to my arsenal pal, he said he saw them against Norwich, Fulham, Cardiff and west ham, and we were more of a threat and put up a much better game than any of those.

I know where you're coming from with this, I can't help but think that we were playing games like this regularly a while back and it does wrangle a bit that we get so excited about these games. Although I get pissed off with the 'plucky little Coventry' type remarks in situations like this from pundits, it does help to accept and take a realistic view of where we are. We really showed our capacity as a decent football team despite the circumstances and the result.

I'm pretty sure most people feel this way, but I guess we should enjoy the good feelings and decent coverage, we get so little!

Hoping we can take this optimism to Orient on Tuesday!

This isn't met as a dig at you but I can't help think its how far we have fallen and not last night's performance your disappointed with and that I agree with but fact is we are where we are for a reason.
This club even before SISU arrived have been badly run off the pitch and underperformed on it. There is hope now on the pitch provided we can sort out things somehow off it.
I have also been there like many other to witness the days when we went to Highbury, Old Trafford and Anfield and not only compete but beat these teams and now we are proud dispite losing 4-0, yes it hurts.

I, along with many other were immensely proud of the shift the players put in last night. If you take Ozil for example he will be earning more per week than the rest of our team put together.
The fact that in the 2nd half we were the better team for periods and had 2 very good chances at 2-0. If we had scored 1 of these who knows what may have been.

As a Gooner who lived in Coventry for Two Years in the Sixties and indeed went to every home game at Highfield Road i went to the Emirates from Ireland to show my support for the fans. In fact i have been to The Ricoh a few times since ye moved there.
I was amazed before the game to meet some fellow Gooners who had no idea of what is happening in Coventry?
I for one was delighted with the display and and also with the dignified protest which the Arsenal fans joined in.
Let's all sing together PUSB

Arsenal started on fire showing us what Pressley means by pressing a game. They pressed us high up the field and attacked with slick passing, hardly giving us a look in. Moussa battled hard to try and hold the ball up and get us out but Clarke offered no support and chose to spectate on the half way line.

Wrong tactics? I don't think it was Pressleys tactics he kept waving them out trying to get them to hold a higher line! Sometimes it's a lot easier to see what is wrong from the side of the pitch than to rectify what is wrong when you are on it. Arsenal gave us a prime example of the football Pressley is trying to preach.

A half time talk brought us out to hold our own in the second half. If Leon had took one of the excellent chances his teams mates grafted for we might have had a grand finale.

The first half was a little scary but we were up against a team top of the best league in the world, with world class players. When we did have the ball, they used it very well I though. Particularly bringing the ball out of defence. To see the defence and midfield passing the ball in triangles around the likes of Wilshere, Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain etc, made me bloody proud!

I think the sign of a good manager is one who make changes when things aren't going well. He went there with a plan and it didn't work in the first half so he changed it at half time and we were much better in the second half.

Certainly no embarrassment for me. In fact last night was probably the proudest I've been in years as a Cov fan. Our team, our manager and our fans all helped paint a wonderful picture of our club last night. Things like that can help our cause massively going forward. Well done all. Proud as punch.
