Forest in March 1986. 0-0 was a sign of things to come... Should have known better than to come back.

1983 for me too - remember watching v west ham and wba (dad must have liked teams beginning with w!).
Still got programmes - though a young me clearly added a few extra words and they are a bit tatty.
I thought we won both 2-1, but I've just checked, we lost both 2-1! Well, an inbuilt reaction to poor results started early...

I couldn't give the date or opposition team, but it was pre-JH.
Late 50's or very early 60's.
I think Billy Frith was the manager, Arthur Lightening was our goalie and Ray Straw our star striker.
And we played in royal blue and white, which I much preferred to today's sky blue.
However, I did not become a real fan until Jimmy Hill took over.

Fairly sure it was 1972 v Ipswitch, 'cause we had a penalty and I recall my dad saying "bone head" Blockley when we scored. Don't remember much other than how steep the stands were and I was worried about falling forwards and getting hurt. Took my grandson to his first game last season, home to Walsall. He actually thought the same which was eerie.

13th March 1993 - we lost 2.0 at home to Arsenal. Sat in the Sky Blue stand.

Stood with Dad about a third way up on Kop, right behind goal. Two things I remember quite vividly were the 'indecision' as I saw it, of some City 'yoots' by wearing a Cov scarf on one wrist and a M'boro one on the other. Almost like some sort of sporting gesture. I would discover the real reason for it soon after.
The other being a kid getting the ball full in the face after a cross/block tackle as we or maybe them were bearing down on the byline. Not as savage as a 'casey' but still by the mid '70's 'modern' footballs were heavy beasts. He went down like a sack of spuds, soon recovered tho - no doubt aided by the laughter and general piss taking of his mates.
Dave Armstrong still had a full head of hair back then.

THAT game against Wolves. Don't remember much apart from sitting inside the white wall without my Dad. He was far more worried about it than I was. Man that noise when we scored will stay with me forever! Division 1 here we come...

Ccfc 0-0 wolves. 1982.

Boring apart from danny thomas and hatelys haircut..... I was 10.

My first ever game was actually bristol city v leeds united in 1979......I didnt really watch the game as I was hypnotised (and probably traumatised) by the violence before, during and after the match........what the fuck was my mad old man thinking.....

If anyone could find this I'd be greatly apprecitive...

My first game was, I think, a preseason friendly in the late 90s against Ajax and we lost 2-1 think.

I don't remember much of it because I was a small kid, and I've tried to find it on google but couldn't and I'm a bit worried I've got things mixed up haha!

I should start a thread called First Violence At A Match ?
I remember being really young at Highfield Road. We were playing West Ham on a Saturday and before it was the West End it was just the covered end. West Ham fans got in there early and were whacking our fans coming in. But a load of City fans steamed in to them and got them out. Us kids watched on from the sides, and in a way felt a bit proud that the West Ham yobs got a pasting !

My first game was City at home to Huddersfield on Oct 3rd 1964. We were in Division 2 and they beat us 3-2.
Att: 26,992! (For a Second Division game! Equivalent to Championship League. Those were the days!)
Starting Line up was:
Goalkeeper - Dave Meeson
Defender - Mick Kearns
Defender/Centre back - George Curtis
Full back - Dietmar Bruck
Full back - Billy Tedds
Midfielder - Ernie Machin
Wing half - Ron Farmer
Outside right - Billy Humphries
Centre forward - George Hudson
Winger - John Mitten
Inside forward - John Smith
City goal scorers that afternoon were George Curtis & Ron Farmer (penalty).
I'm sure Harold Wilson was at the game as well. I seem to remember the stadium announcer saying he was there as a Huddersfield fan!

Home game against Southampton in the 1994/95 season. I was probably 4. It can't have been a very good game, because the only things I remember are we lost and I cheered when both teams scored.

Actually, describing that one game sums up being a City fan for most of my life!

Anyone remember the pre-season friendly that we played Benfica at Highfield Rd? It was 10th August 1996. Can't remember the score. I'd not long met the current 'er indoors and was trying to impress her with footie. Don't know what went wrong though. She now has as much interest in footie as I have in synchronised swimming!

Yes we signed Boateng from them after that. Sure we played Ajax or somebody in a mid season friendly in the Strachan era as well. Maybe in January?

My dad was a staunch Labour voter so loved that Wilson was there. Then again he said Blair would be a good leader so less said on that !
