Now we’ve had our first 6 games back in the Championship, how would you review our results from them?

For me I’d give us a 6/10. Two disheartening results wrapped by 4 which we could take positives from. We’ve played 1 team in the relegation zone, 1 mid table, 1 who could get in the playoffs with a win and 3 in the top 6.

We've been okay. Will be in a real battle in my opinion but I think we've shown enough to say we should be safe come the end of it

The way I look at it, we have lost 3 games against 3 sides that will be wanting top 6, 2 of which will probably be pushing for automatics. We haven't lost a game yet that I didn't expect us too. Should have won last night, but it is the results against the likes of Huddersfield, Birmingham, Rotherham, Wycombe, Luton, Preston, Derby, Barnsley, QPR, Middlesbrough, those sort of teams that will define our season, not losing to Bristol City, Bournemouth and Brentford, (2 of those being away also).
I've seen more than enough to think with belief, confidence in our play and a bit more quality that we can and will be ok.

Wasn't feeling very positive at all until last night where we probably should have come away with all 3 points against a side who will be pushing for play offs/potentially top 3, so now feeling more encouraged.
As long as we continue with last nights aggression and more self-belief from the off, think we'll be okay for the rest of the season

Not going to rate the performance as Robbins is still struggling to get his first team out - Hamer’s card was a nuisance then Walkers Covid and Dabos injury - these would be first on the team sheet and he has been unable to do it - very positive about last night - PUSB

I am starting to believe that last night will be a better example of how we'll do this season, rather than taking the last 2 defeats in isolation. We had far more possession than we've had for a while (BBC stats are 50%/50% possession) and were able to play through them a lot of the time. Yes, we still have some very strong teams to play but there are more than enough teams for us to beat. We showed some excellent touches and ideas. Our failing last night was that we just need to stop giving the ball away needlessly (looking at you O'Hare O_O).

Season so far : 5.5 /10. Some of us on this forum didn't even think we'd pick up any points in the first half dozen games so 5 is a success in my eyes.

First 6 games are, result wise the same as when we returned to league one. I’d settle for a similar season

I think we’ve shown we can compete but are some way behind the best teams. That should focus minds that we’re going to lose more than we win but should be good enough for survival.

I’ve always said that I think we’ll push on from Christmas as the other teams start to tire/pick up injuries while we’re relatively fresh. Robins’ teams always improve in the second half of the season too. If we can stay a few places out of the bottom 3 like we are now until then then we’ll finish mid table and I’ll be delighted.

Shipley made such a difference closing the gap between the midfield and attack and carrying the team forward. Took us 15 mins to come to terms with it but we did and we then started to play football like last season with kelly playing quarterback role.

We’re okay, Swansea are supposedly one of the fancied teams were sitting fourth. I think they will be happier with. draw than I am I only watched the last 20odd minutes and in that time Giles might had two, one disallowed and O’Hare missed an absolute sitter if that had been Shipley this site would be in melt down now, having said all that we need to get to winning ways starting Saturday.

Agree with much of the above.

We need to keep to our beliefs and our style of play which is possession based. 2 upfront vs. Brentford was a disaster and starved us of possession in midfield; that just invited constant pressure.

Kelly was being written off by some as not being able to make the step up to the Championship; last night proved that wrong. I would like to see a midfield 3 of Kelly/Hamer/Sheaf in some games - would play to our strengths.

Shipley always offers something in his preferred AM position; the finish for the goal was top class and we're not talking about it nearly enough. I don't think he's automatically a 90 minutes player but he's an important part of the squad.

I couldn't see the value of having McCallum back on loan at the time - but I hold up my hands. Completely wrong. Absolute class even playing on the wrong side of defence.

Add in Dabo, Hamer, Dacosta, and Walker to yesterday's squad, play the formation that works so well for us, get behind the lads (vs. some of the ridiculous reactionary comments I read on here even before we kick off at times) and we will have a positive season - which for me means survival in this league and relatively comfortable survival. My ambitions for this season do not exceed lower mid table - that would be absolutely brilliant and we could build from there.

By my calculations we should be aiming for at least 6 points every 18 avaiable. If we manage that then we should stay up.

What I meant was, we were competitive enough in 4 of those games to have won, obviously we won't win every game where we play well enough to win, and we probably won't lose every game where we are outplayed.

I like Godden but I worry he's not what we need leading the line now we've moved up a division. Nothing to do with quality, more style. We've been forced to go long more often and it just never sticks. Maybe Walker will be a better option?

Most disappointing result is actually Bristol as we deserved more.
As I said before the season started, we're still missing pace and power. We're obviously unlikely to get it now but I reckon that's the increment next year should we survive.

The over reaction to the Bournemouth and Brentford defeats was absurd.

Yes we got outplayed. We were in League One last year while those two were in the Premier League and 90 minutes from the Premier League. Of course we got outplayed.

Yet people were on here saying the squad is worse, and we need to rip up all the good work we did last year and change formation. Just crazy.

We will be in a relegation fight, we'll lose more than we win, we will get outplayed by many teams. This does not mean we are shit, it does not mean the players have forgotten how to play football, it does not mean Robins is a limited manager.

Mr Robins disagrees...

“I’ve got to mention Matty Godden, what a performance that was from him. He didn’t really get a great deal in front of goal, but what a performance from him.

“Matty was brilliant for the goal and in everything we did he was a part of it."

5 are winnable for me - Watford you expect just to be too strong.

Reading are top but have only played 1 side yoy expect to be challenging. Forest have and will improve under Hughton but were held at home to Rotherham last night

My expectations were that we would be in a relegation dogfight this season, which is what we are. That said we have not played well in a number of games, paid too much respect to teams and given away a lot of cheap possession and some sloppy goals. Last night was a decent performance and result.

Just have to be better than 3 teams at the end- yes it would be great to be mixing it but I think we can all see that it’s a lift in class - don’t get wrong Robins and Viveash are good judges and trainers - we will get there !

Brentford weren’t 90 minutes from the premier league.
More like 90 seconds

We really miss pace - the fact bakayoko is classed as having any pace at this level says it all

Yep. In the championship we'll have less of the ball, therefore the ability to break at pace is essential. Godden is a good finisher but his lack of pace is really evident.

Pretty pleased overall (albeit frustrating we didn’t get something against Bristol and nick three points last night). Held our own against everyone bar Bournemouth and Brentford who are both around/not far off prem level.

That after 6 months without playing a competitive game, our player of the year out (wasn’t right even in games he’s played), and other key players also out for various games (kelly, Walker, Hamer and Rose)

As I’ve said before if you’d said this is where we’d be now, a year ago, most fans would’ve said you’re taking the piss
