I am sure that many clubs feel the same way about us and our mate Marlon.

No but we were still seen as a vile little club for signing him.

There's not really much credence in writing off a club with 117 years of history based on one incident..

They put one of the coach windows through on the way out! Think that makes em horrid? (I assume it was put they and the police aren't just investigating stone throwing; that'd be silly)

Oldham fans flooded gmk when they signed Hughes acclaiming him a hero. Nothing but contempt for them ever since

Disagree totally.

Oldham people are good. Never forget being given the VIP treatment at the Old Grey Murr the night that City beat Man U away on the '87 cup run.

Lot of angry kids in Oldham, there was a full row if them in the sham side next to the city fans. Started throwing shit at us too, cole bottles and stuff. Few of em chucked out (man handled) by stewards but was funny seeing young teenagers with so much venom in their eyes!

Exactly.
Although you won't find everyone on this thread has the brain cells to digest that point.

It was odd. Some of them could have barely been out of primary school.

Did chuckle when they were chased off in the car park when they started throwing stones at the coaches - some of the city fans were laughing so much they couldn't run - and at the head of it all was the coach driver!

It's exactly the same - the message being don't judge the majority by the actions of a small minority.

Just look at any MOD on Saturday nights - when the opposition is taking a corner, talk

about "venom" more like demented gargoyles, eyes bulging, lips snarling, crimson faced,

hand gestures, diabolical language - what is wrong with these people (of all age groups I

may add) - the majority look as though they need sectioning under the Mental Health

Act - FFS it's only a game chaps !!!

I think you are missing the point here. The club signed Hughes not the fans. What has being a dick to a ball boy got to do with somebody that killed two people then hid away until his system was clear of substances in the hope of a lesser charge?

Yeah, some of the fans attitudes when they signed him was appalling but at the end of the day the club signed him which in my eyes will always make them a vile little club

Oldham are tossers for signing Hughes we are tossers for signing Marlon.

Hughes mistake was a one off but was so severe it is worse than Marlons.

Marlon made 18 mistakes, that is just the ones that were proven. A line should have been drawn.

I have no time for either of them.
We are hardly in a position to be attacking Oldham, a lot will have seen us as a vile little club for signing King.

If we were judged on those who sang the 'she said yes marlon, she's a slag' etc then we would probably be considered as scumbags.

To be fair to Hughes he has done work in the community and met with the family...at least he has shown some remorse. Something King has never done and even went onto claim he was innocent.

At the end of the day though they get paid to play football, football fans always turn into moralists when given the chance and can be a little over-sensitive.

It was funny at full time when I saw a lad, must have been about 8 giving it the 'wanker' hand gesture. Surely he's not started doing that already, even Russell Brand wasn't masturbating at that age.

Tell you what, when the stewards were ejecting some of them, they didn't mess about. Just didn't react quick enough to them throwing stuff.

I personally hate Marlon King and Hughes for what they've done, they got put in prison (soft sentences I know) but they served their senteces and were released, both are excellent strikers and I don't blame AB nor Dickov for signing these strikers! When I go up to watch Cov, I don't care if we have a team of ex-convicts, at least if we win.

For all those moralists on the forum, what about the passage in the bible which states "one should be forgiven 77 times".

(Note: I'm not religious nor do I believe in God.)
