I believe Fergie gave a good reference to Alex McLeish when he joined Villa.

I think McLeish did a great job at Villa and Lambert is carrying on the good work

In seriousness I think McLeish is ok, just the wrong man at the wrong time and of course with teh Blues connection, their fans were never going to be too patient or forgiving.
