Is there anyone around London(ish) or southwards thinking of going to Watford next weekend? Should be booking my ticket when they're available and it'd be nice to have a few others going along as well.

Ah very nice! I haven't been to Vicarage Road before so I don't fancy the idea of getting lost around there by meself!

I think we arrive in Marylebone at 11...and then to Watford, but for very good reasons to do with the Hertfordshire Constabulary (!), we can't arrive at Watford Junction, we're arriving at Watford High St.....so, we're on the tube from Marylebone.

We are getting back to the Smoke for a night out before the last train home.

Haha, why am I not surprised LBB I've no specific plans as yet so getting to a pub in Watford early on seems best.

£17 if they're doing 17-21 yo discounts-train won't be too steep with a railcard (like £15).

There's The Flag by the station (probably where we'll have breakfast) and then into town; usually go into The Moon, but fancy somewhere different this time around - any suggestions?

It's not that, BSB, but we had some bother with their OB a few years ago, in fact for about 3/4 years on the trot, so we were 'informed' by the West Mids spotters that they were looking to nick us the next time we turned up...so we haven't been for the last 2 seasons. I'll PM you my mobile no.

Fair enough, understandable even if it's been a while. Can't see there being trouble to be honest.

For some reason it kicked off down there 3-4 years ago (not suggesting you were involved LBB), a load of Cov fans left the ground at half time and apparently caused trouble in the town centre; all cov fans were then barred from the town centre pubs after the game; quite a few 'lads' ended up in The Flag, whilst being 'watched' by Messers Cudworth and Austin. It's been relatively peaceful at most games down there since.

Yes, that was one incident...there was the also the incidents when the game was called off on the first day of the season, we also took a renegade coach without informing Cudworth or Hertfordshire OB which pissed them off, there was the occasion when the trains were delayed and Munster fans were arriving in a few hours and they wanted us out of the town, and finally when we were rounded up after the game and frogmarched to the train station because 'we had had enough to drink'....which was probably correct, but you don't see it that way when you are pissed, do you?!

All in all, not our favourite hunting ground!

Never a dull moment down there, although I've never actually seen any trouble, apart from one incident in The Moon when a prick in an Arsenal shirt thought he'd get away with giving it the bird and all sorts of hand gestures to a load of Cov lads, lucky one of the barmaids clocked onto to what was about to happen and dragged him out of the pub.

Is this turning into the football factory forum?

Absoultely not, simply recalling a few things that I've seen down there; I've never been involved in that way and never will be. I like Watford as a day out, one of the first fixtures i look out for, usually a good laugh and no hassle.
